Ok, after years of smoking cigars, one notices that there are just way too many cigar brands out there. Most of which are either over-priced or just plain unenjoyable, while only a handful are even smokeable.

Now two of the only ways to decipher between which cigar brands to try is by merely using the old trial-and-error method, which is both a waste of time and money, or by taking advice from fellow cigar smokers. This is where my idea comes in.

I, Tony Maduro, hereby propose that we start an official non-Cuban "Must-Try List". This list should contain cigars that are, without a doubt, worthy of being smoked. The cigars in this list should either have excellent, or pleasantly interesting, taste characteristics.

In my humble opinion, I feel this list will prove to be a great asset to the cigar smoking community by displaying the names of only the finest cigars around. After all, cigar smoking should be one of life's finer pleasures, not simply an ungratifying, time-consuming activity.

So whatta ya say? Shall the listing begin?

I will wait anxiously for the first response before I list my first two candidates Smile

Thanks guys,
Tony Maduro

P.S. Now remember, be picky! This list should contain only the best of the best Wink

Montecristo Kilimajaro Afrique. Not overly expensive but very flavorful and well constructed. It had a great burn and plenty of smoke. First quarter was very creamy. Cigar changes the farther down it burns. But it is one that I will burn my fingers on smoking to the nub.

This is a great topic. As a noob, I have been reading this message board to find suggestions and recommendations from more experienced smokers.

Just one question. What is a PAM? I can't seem to find this brand, or a brand with these initials, on any internet cigar site.

Perdomo Reserve Cabinet Figurado

I had my first one this weekend and it was very nice indeed.

I was on vacation and was able to catch up on reading my CA, turns out it was reviewed and rated a 91.

Cost was $6.25 (USD)

I think a cigar on everyone's must try list should be a $15 cigar. Doesn't matter what brand or whatever. I think everyone should try an expensive cigar and then go back to the not so expensive cigars so they know they aren't missing a thing. I've tried those $15 and up cigars and end up tossing away over half of it cause I can't stand them. I've done this on more then one occasion.

Torpedoman, my guess is that Ernesto got way behind in his e-mail what with so many folks asking for free samples or to buy from him. You can purchase directly from cornercigars.com as
Stogemiester points out. From where I sit, Ernesto has been remarkably good-willed and generous with the participants on this board.

Tony Maduro, fun it is. Thanks for the idea. Are you going to compile the cigars from the various postings into one, grand list at some point? Whether or not a cigar makes it onto the list depends on how many times it is mentioned, or what?
That being asked, here's my list, or at least, part of it:

-- Padron Anni 64, maduro
-- Torano Exodus, gold (or silver, I can't
make up my mind)
-- Oliva O, maduro
-- AVO XO
-- La Flor Dominicana Ligero
-- Padilla Hybrid
-- Astral TVS

I like the topic, but I disagree already with a couple picks. Frown

I'm a big fan of recommendations from others, but you can't get totally way from trying some things for yourself, since we all have different tastes.

Some of my must tries:

Don Carlos
Hemingway
Fuente Sungrown
Padron Maduro
CAO Cameroon
CAO Brazilia
Opus X (overated IMHO, but a must try)
Perdomo2
LFD Double Ligero
Perdomo The Cigar
Camacho SLR
Camacho Diploma
La Gloria Cubana Maduro
Punch Champion
Davidoff Millennium
Punch Rare Curojo
CAO MX2
ERDM Oscuro
Fuente Anejo
Mayorga Maduro
Camacho Liberty (Great cigar, worth the price?)

In heaven there ain't no beer,
that's why I drink it here.

I may just do that, Osnat, once this thread gets beyond a few pages Wink

P.S. While everyone's tastes are quite different, let's allow others to express there views on their particular cigar choices. Some may agree while others may disagree, but this should not be an overbearing factor.

However, keep in mind that lots of folks out there may be making purchase choices simply based on the cigars in this list. So I stress once again, be very picky in your choices Smile

Thanks again,
Tony Maduro
