WOW some of you guys are really negative. Well the fact of the matter is ACID cigars are a big seller everywhere so most people are enjoying them. What’s the harm if someone enjoys a flavored cigar? I don’t see people who enjoy pipes being hounded b/c most pipe tobacco are flavored. Say what you want about them I still will enjoy them as will most people on this board.

Some people enjoy drinking their own urine. Doesn't mean I should have to watch them do it in a crowded restaurant. But in the privacy of their own homes, I guess it's their business. (I hope Jonathan Drew isn't eavesdropping...I may have given him an idea for a new Acid.)

That's where you're wrong....most people on this board will not enjoy them, hence the overwhelming negative response...

I'll concede that, for what they are, Acid is a quality product and probably the best of the genre. But only in the most academic terms can it be called a cigar. It doesn't smell like burning tobacco, it doesn't taste like burning tobacco...about the only thing it has in common with one of your Opus X is that it is made of tobacco and shaped like a cigar.

If you walk into the French Laundry in the middle of dinner service and start raving about the great hamburger you had at McDonald's for lunch, you'd expect a little ridicule. And if you sing the praises of Acids to guys here, you can expect a little good-natured ribbing just the same.

To each his own? Of course. But if you truly love cigars -- and therefore tobacco -- then why would you want to smoke a cigar that masks the actual tobacco?

Hahaha, nice humorous thread.

X2link, I don't think anyone is trying to put you down, just having a bit fun at your expense. ECord's post from above pretty much sums it up.

I say, Welcome a new cigar smoker into this wonderful world. They have to start somwhere, and may eventually move onto bigger better things.

When I wanted to start cigars I had no Idea what I was in for. My first cigar was a kaluah and I did enjoy it. It got me into cigars and I went from that to where I am now. Still a noob, but enjoying Fuente, Padron, Ashton, etc.

Sometimes when all my freinds go out I bring a good smoke. My freind does not really like real cigars so he buys those flavored phillies. I can smell his smokes a little but it does not ruin my experience. Since out of about 8 of us he is the only other smoker I enjoy being able to have another "cigar" smoker, even if it smells like cherries. Smile

Just a few quick facts:

1) I am the president of Drew Estate.

2) Most people would think threads and posts like this would piss us off, but the truth is we read them and laugh too. Funny is funny...

3) ACID cigars are definitely a unique smoking experience. One that some hate, another that some love... fwiw, ACID is one of the best selling brands in the country - cracks the top 5 in almost all stores.

4) ACID cigars are handcrafted only of premium black tobaccos - we put a lot of care into them. Most companies treat "flavored" products like they are crap - we don't, we afford them the same caliber of makers, tobacco, aging and natural ingredients like a premium cigar deserves. I know that this is why our infused products out sell all the others and our customer base grows.

5) All that being said... I personally can't stand to smoke ACID myself - like others I am a traditonal cigar guy. I prefer my cigars to be cigar flavored.

And finally, my only pet peeve about people knoocking ACID is that a few folks won't even give our traditional cigars a fair shake.

BR,

Steve Saka

Always good to see responses from those directly involved in the making of the product. Thanks.

Could you address the issue mentioned by a couple of us here regarding the Natural? For some smokers the wrapper has an artificial sweetness to it. It seemed to me to be a surface treatment. I might have liked the smoke but could not get past that cloying sweetness.
Of course, I fully understand that others may be drawn to the Natural because of that very quality. Still, I'd like to know more about it.

Ha, thanks for the post Steve. It is refreshing to hear someone say that they don't use the product they sell. Just out of curiosity, what cigars do you smoke?

Thanks Steve, that was awesome. I think we brothers do respect the business, but enjoy poking a little fun all the while. Good to see you guys can take a joke!

And like the other guy asked, what are your favorite cigars?

Okay, I just spit Dr. Pepper onto my keyboard.

That was just damn funny.

Glad to see the ACID boys also have a sense of humor.

A few years ago we were at the beach and stopped in the local cicar shop where we got jumped by an Acid Cigar rep that was pimping the cigar and how great they were. My buddy and I bought a few stick basically to get him out of our hair. We smoked one that night - I have no idea which, but could not get through the first third. We then realized that we could not put the last few in the humidor because it would ruin our good cigars. We stuck them in a baggy (to avoid smelling up the entire place) and put them in the closet. About two years past, we were at the beach for the 4th of July and lighting off fireworks on the beach when our torch lighter died. We searched through the condo for another lighter when we came upon the Acids. We took them to the beach, lit them up and used them to light the rest of the fireworks! Hey, at least we found a good use for them. Actually, the smell of the fireworks was actually better than the aged Acids.

Does your boss know that??? Strange that you're the President of a company and don't like their product. I guess it would be like the President of Chevrolet driving an Infinity.

Kinda reminded me of that old "Hair Club for Men" commercial...except that even though you're the President, you're not a client...

BTW, you didn't happen to be at Nick's in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago did you???

I first started with ACID cigars, and I actually enjoyed them. I am in the NAVY and work on a submarine, so when we deploy, you can't smoke cigars that often when submerged. We pull into a bunch of different ports, and to remind you, the last cigar that I had was an ACID. The next cigar that I smoked was a CC, the PSD#4. At that point I realized what a cigar, and the taste of a cigar actually was without adding spicy, fruity, overloads of flavor. After smoking CC's for almost 5 months I came back and ACID came out with the Deep Dish. This would be the first ACID cigar in 6 months, and the last ACID cigar that I would have. I lit it up, thought that it might get less flavorfull, and put it to rest after about 30 seconds. My cigar guy asked what was wrong with it. I picked up an Oliva V gave him 20 bucks and told him to slap me in the face for selling those to me, and keep the change.
All in all I won't knock someone for giving Acid a shot, hell I did. One thing that I will say, is that since that day, I have been more pleased with my cigar smoking experiences. So don't get down if you enjoy the Acid line. They are, and I hate to say it, one of the biggest and most sold cigar brands, but I am happy to say that I have moved on.

All this crap about ACID makes me dying to try one. Haha.
It's good Crazy Poet has granted me one from my NC wish list. I just don't know how I'll put my hands on it.

I bought an Acid Kuba Kuba the other day... and I loved it! I didn't even realize that it was flavored when I picked it up. The taste was sweet at first, then balanced out to a nice mild smoke that burned evenly. Will definitely buy the Drew Estate sampler.

I snagged the empty Cold Tea Infusion box from the store too. Smells fantastic! It's full of loose tobacco that has a hint of black tea.
