I got the opportunity to smoke one of these (torps) last night thanks to the A-Man. I don't want to do a full review after one stick but for those of you who are fans of the regular ERDM line, this is a more refined version with a similar flavor profile. The construction is definitely head and shoulders above the regular line. The burn and draw were fantastic, although for me the draw was ever so slightly on the firm side. My "first taste" impressions are that it's a solid medium bodied smoke (possibly medium/full for some palates) that starts out with a smoked hardwood or cedar flavor and a bit of pepper. It mellows a bit after about an inch or inch and a half, and develops a nice sweetness that is just prevalent enough to be nice, not overbearing. The wood notes seemed to be present throughout and the sweetness was a nice addition. The pepper that was present at first seems to drop out mostly. Not sure if it's a box worthy cigar yet or not but I would like to try a few more. Definitely worth trying. Anyone else have thoughts on these? I have a natural in the same vitola that I'll spark up soon.

It's a good one smokum. If you like the regular ERDMs you'll like these a lot. I think I'm gonna leave the natural in my huimidor for a while before I smoke it.

I haven't tried this size yet but I was checking them out at my local shop the other day. They are very well put together IMO. The torps came to a sharp point and they were very uniform in construction, almost as nice as the Torano torps. Needless to say I was impressed and will be trying this size in the near future.

I have smoked dozens of these, and they are the best of the ERDM (IMHO). Although it has been awhile since I have smoked one the naturals have always been a very pleasant medium smoke with a definite creaminess. The only knock I've had with the naturals, is the wrapped tends to be delicate and tearing at the foot was common. But overall a worthy box purchase in Nat./or Mad.

just smoked one tonight with a little scotch. i agree with your evaluation, smokie, especially regarding the nice construction. only thing i would add is that mine spiced up a lot towards the end. but most of this gar is smooth wood with some dark chocolate and/or coffee on the tip of the tongue. good toke, but definitely overpriced for my taste. but then i'm not a big spice guy. all about the beans. if you dig both, you'll like this stick.
Both the Flor de Llanezas and the ERDM Robustos are always in abundance in my humi. The FDL's are pricey, but a really smooth and delicious smoke. I like both the naturals and the maddies. In fact, I think I may smoke a couple this weekend!

Both the natural and maduro are some of the most consistent cigars on the market. I started smoking the naturals in 1996 and they are just as good today as they were back then.

I've been trying to tell people that the LFDL and Reserva Salado are the best ERDMs made but they don't listen. It's also why they are a little more expensive per stick than the rest of the line. Now if they would only sell them in boxes of 20-25, they'd reach a broader audience. Sometimes those cabs of 30-40 scare off the inexperienced or the price conscious.
just had a flor de llaneza ems. really liked it (more than the maduro). a much more balanced, and admittedly mellow cigar. will definitely buy a box in the future. the port ain't bad, either.
This is one of my favorite non-Cuban smokes, JR has an 8 pack sampler for around 37.95 you get 4 naturals and 4 maduros. I prefer the maduros and for less than 5 bucks a stick it is a great deal. I think I might have to order a pack along with some Cafe Mayorga coffee.
Dont' sell yourself short Judge, you're a tremendous slouch!
Just had my first El Rey del Mundo - Flor de LLaneza Maduro last night - my brother bought a cab / box of 35. I didn't know anything about this make , but this cigar made a solid first impression. I convinced the brother to sell me a few. I am going to let them rest and am definitely looking forward to the next.
