I'm driving to work on Tuesday this week listening to my favorite radio host Rush. He was bragging about this great cigar between his nicotine stained fingers..An Arturo Fuente from the Don Carlos line..

Not having tried this smoke, I went to my favorite cigar auction site and picked up a 5 pack sampler of the #3's..I may have bidded to much at 33 bucks but what the heck I won the auction and they are on the way.

My question is..Does this smoke live up to hype that Rush pluged on his radeo show?

If we say it doesn't, what are you going to do, throw the cigars you bought in the garbage? Smoke them and answer the question for yourself. Personally, I like Fuente DC.

Well seeing that he posted this in the Non Cubans one would assume he cannot obtain a cheaper cuban with more punch. Maybe you shouldnt be so quick to down something and trying giving a thoughtful response?

That is a stick I have wanted to try for a while. Please post your review once you get the product. The only other cigar rush talks about regularly that I have had a box of was the LFD Double Ligero Chisel, and I did not like that cigar. It was all power with little flavor and complexity. The chisel shape was great, but not the taste.

An excellent excuse for you to get to know and love the keyword search on these boards. Cuts through the clutter, and avoids a common noob breach of etiquette: posting a question that's been asked (and answered) dozens of times.

Excuse my noobness Mr pintoirish. But in all your wisdom you must have forgot to type in the key word Rush Limbaugh. If so you would have seen there are no post about his plug on the Don Carlos. My topic was Rush Limbaugh's smoke.
So every time he plugs a cigar on his radio show I just might make another post about it and breach your idea of etiquette. Feel free not to respond to those posts in the future..

The Don Carlos line from Fuente are very tasty and probably my favorite of all their smokes including the Opus. That being said, Rush is friends with Carlito and was hosted by the Fuentes in Santiago last year ( He took the guys from 24 with him).

I do know that he also loves Lito Gomez's La Flor Dominicana double ligeros and Lito makes a special size just for Rush with his name on the box.

From your original post:

"my question: does this smoke live up to the hype that Rush plugged on his radio show?"

Type in "Don Carlos". See what you come up with.

So what has anyone learned from your post? That Rush Limbaugh smokes cigars? Been covered. That the Don Carlos line of smokes has many fans (some of them are even celebrities--wow!)? Also been covered. When it's gently suggested that you smoke it yourself and then tell us what you think, you whine, "I got hammered"? Great first impression, and very informed.

Break every noob convention. Tell us about Thompson's great freebies, or the humidor you made out of an empty baby wipes container. And please, any time Rush plugs anything, from cigars to hemorrhoid preparations, you should break the news right here.

I thought Rush mainly smoked Cuban's.

The DC line is great for beginners. Hell, I started with Macanudo's and the first time I smoked a DC I was blown away.

My point, your tastebuds will change a great deal during your cigar smoking journey. While I used to really enjoy the DC's, now they leave me wanting for more, much more.

If you really want to experience the best n/c cigar out there, try a Padron 1926 Anniversario. I have never grown tired of these.

An excellent excuse for YOU to get to know and love a newbie. Jesus Christ, I come back here to read a few threads and see what's going on and you're hammering some poor guy who just wants to make conversation and be accepted into the bunch. Who gives a flying phock if the question has been asked before? A forum is a FORUM for hey, get this - a discussion! In order to use a search function there has to be previous posts to search.

Where I am from, (and before you say some other board you can look at my post count HERE which is where I started,) we treat new members with respect and gently guide them in the right direction. We don't hammer them with bullshat responses to legitimate inquiries and go apeshat when they rightfully object. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, especially Pintoirish. We NEVER have this crap going on where I post now.

Thank you Rastacat. I was begining to think that most people who post here are snobs. I see now there are just a few..

I may be a noob here on the forums but I work for a printing company that prints Cigar Aficionado. I love the magazine and have had the privilege of meating some of their great reps and reading the Aficionado magazine hot off the press..

I take great pride in helping to print the quality magazine you gents read and love.

Anyhow, back to my post..My box of Don Carlos #3 have arrived..(after getting lost in shipping for a week.) As always I smoked one right out of the box upon arrival....Let me just say; Rush knows his stogies..I cant wait to share them with my friends..

And for those who have tried AF's and are expecting more..much more..Then maybe you might want to try the Gurkha X Fuerte..A great robust smoke but it is a bit harder to find.

Not big on Rush, but you do have a good cigar, there.

And you are correct. Sometimes you have to work around the snobbery to get a straight answer. You know the ol' stupidity, if it ain't a cuban, it ain't a cigar. Puh-leeze.

I was offering what I thought was "gentle" guidance. There are certainly people on here who will attack you for a lot less, and if you've seen those posts you wouldn't confuse my first response for "hammering" (the second, granted, was a little more pointed).

No disrespect meant, bufordaxe, and sorry for the scolding.
