Also, it's Puros Indios. That may help the search Wink.

It was Puros Indios with which I finally turned the cigar corner, so to speak. When I first started taking cigars seriously, I chose cigars pretty much at random, trying this one and that one, never the same twice. I read a lot of CA and Smoke Mag reviews and descriptions, of course, but never felt like I really had an understanding of what it was all about it terms of flavor profiles, texture in the mouth, finish, etc.

Then one momentous day, I picked up (again totally at random) and lit a PI Presidente and suddenly, dawn breaks over marblehead! It made sense. At that moment, I knew what 'creamy' meant. I knew what 'rich and spicy' meant. I knew I really, really liked the way it felt in my mouth and thru my sinuses. I could actually identify flavors. It was a revelation and I was ready for it, like, "Ooooh, okay ... okay."

It was kind of a variant on the adage, 'when the student is ready, the teacher will appear'.

I've since found two or three cigars I like a bit better now, but Puros Indios is still on my short list of favorites, and no other brand has played such a significant role in my 'education', and as a result, no other holds the same place in my heart.

That is a nice way to say you like them.

I am ready to buy a box without even smoking one. Smile

I will order some sticks first though. I have learned my listen.

The one I sent was the Special Aged Pyramid. It's a mellow, but pretty flavorful stick.

Glad you liked it.

Check Cbid before you buy anything on CI Big Grin

We have sold Rolando Sr. virtually ALL of his wrapper for many years. I, for one, always liked the OLD Aliados much more than the Puros Indios.

Puros Indios is the first brand of cigars I ever smoked. They're pretty tasty and very complex- as in the range of flavors and how they're layered in the smoke.

The Maxima Reserva isn't worth trying IMHO, but you may want to try the Cuba Aliados that PMagus mentioned. He's right though, the old Aliados tasted much better than the ones out now.

I am a big fan of rolando's products, and his maduro wrapper is one of the best out there imo...great construction and flavor, for a reasonable price. Jsprenkel, the one i sent you is a maduro especial 2 that has over a year of age on it, and imo is a great smoke...i've also got a couple of the old aliadas aging in the humi for about 2 years now...the last one i smoked was pretty nice Big Grin

I seem to have nothing but construction issues with these Indios cigars.

I just tried one of these, I really liked the flavor and fragrant smoke of these cigars. I was in the local tobacco shop today and inquired about the pyramid # 2 with the Colorado wrapper. The salesman said he had smoked one but did not find them to much of his taste. I am glad I did not go by his judgement of this fine smoke because I am going to buy more. The best part was that it was a free sample. He gave it to me try because he said The Puros Indios brand had a policy of giving a sample out to new smokers of this brand to try, the company would give him credit for them. If you have'nt had one yet ask your tobacco shop about this policy and try one out.

It was probably 6 months or so in my humi. And yes, it was the maduro

I believe that Puros Indios makes a cigar that is called the chief. It is the largest premium cigar I have seen. I believe it is 18 inches with a 66 ring guage if I am correct. A friend of my celebrated New Years eve with one. It had the worst draw of any cigar he or I had ever smoked. He literally was shoving drill bits down it to get a better draw. Granted he was extremely intoxicated at the time, but I tried it and would not recommend the Chief, but it is something that is kinda cool and fun to have. A good conversation starter. I think the thing only costed like 15 bucks and came in a wooden box. I have had others in their line and they are not bad. Not my favorites, but not bad. I do however think they have the ugliest label I have ever seen. Yuck nasty puke green!

I really like the Piramid #2 a lot, but the Piramid #1 is so gargantuan (60 x 7.5"), it looks like a novelty cigar. Because there's so much volume between the ends, a single puff can't create nearly the vacuum needed to get smoke to your mouth - it takes about four. Like sucking on the end of the cardboard tube inside a roll of paper towels.

I've kinda settled on the Presidente as my PI of choice.

There's a thread on the Chief that includes illustrations of someone smoking it. Check it out! Smile
