Hey there
Heading to Vegas in 2 weeks for a Conference, and I am wondering if anyone could let me know of good, fiar priced cigar shops on or near the Strip. I will be staying at Mandalay Bay.
I have found one shop called Tobacco leaf, and from the prices on their website all looks good, but I have no idea on how easy it is to get to the shop via cab from thr strip.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much
Gordy

Check out the Paiute Indian shop in town. GREAT prices on everything they have.

I live in vegas and if I'm looking for singles I always go to the paiute smoke shop. I don't think they have to pay all the taxes. It's north of down town in kind of a shady area, but safe during the day. The cab fare might cost more than the cigars.

From my experiences in Vegas the prices are absolutely atrocious, you would best bring your own cigars and congratulate yourself when browsing the various shops.

Check out Casa Fuente at Ceasars, great place and high prices but you can pick up the house brand that is only sold there.

The Poster probably already visited the fine city, but for future visitors... Try Tinder Box on W. Sahara and the Havana Cigar Company on Paradise across from Gordon Biersch. Tinder often has $5 cigar specials and quite a selection of premiums. Havana is pretty decent also. Good luck at the tourist traps in most casinos. Markup is rough. I have heard good things about the cigar lounge in Tropicana though...

Tobacco leaf is a good shop, but the trip from the strip into the Green Valley area is not going to be easy to make. Neither is Tinder Box. W. Sahara and Ft. Apache (Tinder Box's Location) is a pain to get to for me and I live in Vegas. Havana Cigar is close to the strip, but htey've forgotten what customer service is all about, IMO. Oh, and BTW, if you're a Fuente fan, everybody is going to be as much or more than Casa Fuente. Our tobacco taxes are the reason for the high prices, no way around it. Paiute is ok, but they don't have a very good selection of Fuente's.

Pmagus, smokingvegas, Excalibur5,

What's your take on the Paiute shop on Main near Downtown? I never seem to get out that way. Is there much of a premium cigar selection or is it mainly the machine produced variety: Swisher Sweets, White Owls, and Phillies? I heard the "good deals" talk from a friend and he's a Swisher conoisseur...

Oh, and another shop I like is the Havana Cigar Co. shop at Lake Las Vegas. Nice little spot during the spring/summer to enjoy a freshly rolled cigar, a cocktail, and listen to the band playing.

I've been to the Paiute once. They had a decent selection of cigars that I don't typically smoke. They weren't of the swisher variety, though. Not bad for those with "broader" tastes or more adventurous palates than mine.

I won't patronize any of the Havana Cigar stores ever again. The way they handled themselves when they had the Eastern store pretty much finished it for me. I gave them another chance this last summer and went into the Lake Las Vegas store. Sincerely, the WORST customer service I have EVER had in ANY store EVER!

Thanks for the heads up Excalibur.

I checked out the Paiute today and came back with $4 Bolivar Toros, $3.25 Gispert churchills, and a couple of $3 Toranos. Lots of R y J's, CAO, Ashton, Red Dot Cohibas, etc. Worth the trip for the budget-moderate smokers.

Not bad for LV prices and on top of that no tax. They also give 5% of singles prices with the box purchase. Hope this helps.

Yes, as for the Havana chain they definitely are more expensive than Tinder Box in my experience. I've "yet" to have that poor customer service.

Thanks.

We'll have to get together for a smoke sometime. I'll give you all the details on the Havana.
