Smoked my first Oliva V torpedo and to be honest was not very impressed. Not a bad skoke.Maybe just not the cigar for me.Just wanted to see what it was all about because of all the good reviews.
Please feel free to send me any remaining sticks. Happy to help!

They are nice but the over-rating of this cigar tends to get a lot of people's hopes way to high to begin with. I thought it was powerful and good but the MB3s are far superior IMO.

I bought two of the torpedos and two of the lanceros yesterday. I am pretty excited to try them (never had a serie v before.) I am going to let them sit for at least two weeks though.

Steve I can definitely tell you to let them sit for at least four months. I was like you, I bought the serie V because of all the talk. I had one from a local shop, was really impressed so I bought a whole box. I got the belicosos. I love their size. 5x54. Its short enough not to take forever and fat enough to enjoy all the flavors. But, back to the story here. When I got my box I let it sit for a short time and had one. NOT impressed at all. I thought, OH SH'T these cigars suck. So I put them in the bottom of my cooler and avoided them. One month went by, I would try one. Still not to my liking. Two, three, forth month, I thought I would have one. Total conversion. I was really enjoying this cigar. I didn't quite understand it but now I have to put the box in the bottom so I dont smoke the whole box. So, in my experience I will suggest to you, if you like full body let the V sit for a while and come back to it. I think you may find a difference. I really enjoy this cigar now, hope you do too.

...so are the prices. 6-7 bucks for the V, can't go wrong with that. I wouldn't give it a 94 rating but at least a 90 or 91. Pretty tasty stick! So in the end I guess it comes down to paying the price for what you like.
i just had a lancero, i loved it, great construction quadruple capped.

I'm having one of these right now. Have to say it's not bad. Nicely constructed, good draw and flavor. I'm not real good on describing specific flavor but I think these will definitely benefit from ageing and could end up being a very nice smoke.
Torpedos are hard to come by here. I've smoked the double robustos and toros. I have two of each resting in my humi now. Kbice, I have to agree with you. They are better when aging them. IMO
The torpedoes are also very difficult to find where I live as well. I've found them only at one B&M when I was away at school. Since coming home for the semester, I've yet to come across the cigar in any of the shops near my home. In fact, even during a trip into NYC last week, I was unable to find torpedo at any of the shops I visited.
I've been told that since the review came out placing the torpedo in the top cigar list, they've flown off the shelves. To date, all the B&Ms I frequent have other sizes available on a regular basis; the torpedo remains elusive.

I grabbed a box about 3 months ago..at first i wasn't that impressed with the cigar..but the last 2 that i have had have been VERY nice smoke..i hope they continue to improve cuz i have about 18 left..
One thing i've noticed is to get a full draw you have to clip alot off the top..Anybody else run into that with these cigars???

I can't say that I remember having this issue. But, it's been awhile since I last smoked a V, so it might just be a matter of forgetting a detail like that over time.
But, you've given me a good reason to smoke one of the V's I have in my humidor tomorrow!

I got my box of Torpedos this wk end, I actually ordered the Belicosos but they weren’t available. When I first tried them a few months back I bought them from my local shop, they were excellent; and they were in the owners humi for about two months. When I tried the Torpedo right out of the box I noticed a considerable difference. I agree to ageing them, let them sit and you will notice a dramatic change for the better.
Even out of the box I still think it has good complexity (lots of leather, hints of sweet cedar), lush draw and nice construction.
With age this one will be even better, especially for the price.

I had a single the other day and wasn't impressed at all. It was my first also. Maybe your right about letting them sit because so many people love them. I was surprised.
