Anybody seen or tried these new cigars from Rocky Patel? They're pressed to the point where the edges are actually 90 degree angles sharper and more precise than a 2x4.
I don't know about others, but for me, box-pressed cigars seem "less natural" to me. Part of the enjoyment of (round) cigars is that it is of a natural shape. I can't seem to recall anything that is square in nature. These I-Press cigars seem a bit too "artificial". Thoughts?
No to the RPs, but I'm with you on the box-pressed. I like some of the less "sharp" pressed cigars, Padron Anny's come to mind. Oliva Gs are a favorite of mine, I just wish it wasn't so exact on the press.

Haven't tried these yet, but I do like the box pressed shape - great for setting on my workbench, without it rolling off!

To me the Nubs have been alright. I've had 2 so far and didn't notice the gimmick. If the gimmick is they last for hours or are the equivelant to a churchill or toro they sure weren't for me. I smoked a torp in about 45 minutes and a 356 in about 35. They didn't get hot, just normal smoking.

Oh don't get me wrong, I like the Nubs myself. I just don't see the point in have such sharp edges in these new I-press RPs... unless you want to use the edges to cut coupons while you smoke.

I hear ya, I don't mind a slight box press but these are extreme.

I happen to like some box press shapes too, I like being able to sit my cigar down on the edge of a table and not have to worry about it rolling off.

I wonder about the expert opinion on the differences (if any) of flavor profiles from one to another. It seems to me that there wouldn't be any sort of change except the shape- but draw effects and burn effects might be taken into account.
For me, the Torano Exodus (gold) label and the Patel Decade are two of my favorite cigars.
