Just was wondering what your guys' daily smokes were. I see a lot of folks that get the better smokes and seem to age them for a long time, but was wondering what the everage everyday smoke was. I can't seem to settle on just one kind, and have found that I definately don't have the palate to smoke the dollar cigars, but don't have the bankroll for the $10+ a stick ones either.

Thanks for your input.

Well, I don't smoke every day, but I have heard that many people who like full bodied and full flavored cigars like the Famous Nicaraguan Bundles from famous smoke shop. They go for about $2 a stick. I enjoy many of the Padrons which are reasonably priced (3000, Londres, etc.)

The reasonably priced stuff by padron and Illusione are both very good. I've heard positive things about Oliva, but the G I had by them was not good at all. I've got a Serie V that I'm letting rest a bit.

In my rookie days my daily stick was Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte but a while back I graduated to Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 (consistently meets my expectations) and will run you around 6 to 7 bucks for a box pressed robusto.

What size G did you have? ive found that different sizes have completely different flavor profiles. the toro i had which convinced me to buy a box smoked completely different than the robustos ive had.

as for the topic, i recommend the oliva serie g (try some different sizes first) at about 3 a stick, HdM Excalibur epicures are a little over 3 a stick, the Famous Nicaraguan 3000 bundles NEED to be aged so they cant be daily smokes right away but for the price are a very good value, and the flor de oliva bundles are a steal as well

Personally I think that you can't go wrong with Padron thousand series. If I need a go to smoke that won't disappoint, that's my smoke! Always consistent, great flavor, just satisfying!

I have over the last 5-6 months built up a nice selection of cigars via Cigars Internationals Daily and Weekly deals. Lots of DPG, RP, 5 Vegas, etc. I try to keep my purchases at an average of around $4 a cigar. This allows me to pick up cigars that are rarely discounted, like Ashton VSG, Olivas, A Fuentes, etc. Also keep an eye on Tampa Humidors closeout section. I was buying Oliva Special S Torps for 4.75 and Carlos Torano Noventa Torps for 5.50 I think. Both excellent cigars that usually MSRP around $10. Just wait for deals on quality cigars and avoid the cheapies. Though there are some great cigars that retail around $3, like some have said Oliva G and O, 5 vegas A, A Fuente Sungrown, Carlos Torano 1916, etc.

Suggest you try the Flor de Oliva (I prefer the maduro toros). Can order them online delivered for $1.83 a stick. Now I have an unexperienced palate but generally a very good cigar imho for a daily smoke, particularly when you consider the price.

I'd have to look that up. It was about 5 inches, box pressed, and a pretty small ring gauge, though. It just tasted bad. I let someone else try it and he hated it more than I did.

I agree. The G is a great candidate for an everyday smoke. At about 90 a box, it is an amazing cigar. I also had the toro and thought it was one of the best cigars for the price.

Oliva G Robustos and Special G, AFH Short Story, Padron 3000 - can't really go wrong with any of these.

The 5 Vegas A from CI is a good everyday maduro as well

So many cigars, so little time...

I usually only smoke 3-4 sticks a week, and when I do I try to have something nice. I have built up a decent assortment but my goto's are Naturals, from Drew estates. the Dark Angel and the Root, the Dark Angel was my first love, and still delights(they are both about 128 per box) the Root has a little tighter draw, and a little more smoke, but neither has ever dissappointed.

however the aroma of the RP 1990, is soo good, that I am just trying to find 90 min of quiet to fire one up.

If you like a milder smoke, try the AF Curly Head. They come in boxes of 40 and are typically under $100. The are short filler, but I am told that they use the offal from some of their better sticks for the Curly Head. My go to is either the Illusione 88 or the CAO MX2, depending on the mood.

That's an extremely generous offer, thaterp. I actually need to knock out some of the other ones that I already have before I start adding to it, I think. Hopefully I can blame my not liking it because of my palate and not a problem in my humidor. Anyway, thanks again!
