It sounds good, has a nice "pedigree", and has me interested...just wondering if anyone has tried them yet and what their thoughts are?

I bought the five pack sampler with my usual monthly order and fired up the torpedo after lunch today, which I think is the Aristocrat.

In sum, it was a very good cigar that to me leaned more towards a full-bodied than medium. My personal rating system involves three of the four basic elements: earth, air, and fire (I don't think water plays a role other than humidification which is the owner's responsibility).

Earth: Nice dark brown, even color wrapper. Pleasing to look at. Well constructed.
Air: Good draw (maybe a little tight), nice blue-tinted and aromatic smoke.
Fire: Easy lighting, even burn, and a white ash that clung to the cigar.

Based on this first one, the 28.95 for the sampler is well worth it and I am happy with the purchase. Holding off the decision of a box purchase until I finish all of them.

I too got the 5 pack sampler as well, to see if it lived up to a Black Label Tat. While I have to regretfully tell you that it does not, the cigar is still Pepin. I think that if you like that majority of Pepin's blend this cigar is similar in characteristics.

I will not be buying a box, but it was still enjoyable.

I can understand why you were disappointed, it doesn't claim to "live up" to the Black Label. It only claims to have a wrapper "comparable" to that of the Black Label.

But, as you said, it is a Pepin creation, and that was what I was wanting comparisons to. So, if its "similar in characteristic" as you say, how and in what way is it similar?

A dog rocket could be "similar in characteristic" to a Pepin cigar in that it is "of the same shape" as a Pepin cigar...LOL...I'm not looking to take a chance on that...

Considering that you get the majority of flavor from a wrapper leaf, I was hoping to get some of the same flavor profiles the Black Label Tat's I have smoked provided, but it did not. I guess I didn't pick the best verbiage in saying 'live up,' but rather should have said 'comparable' or something along those lines.

I thought the stick was decent, not as bold as a Brown Label, but more inline with a stronger Vegas 5 Pepin (in terms of taste and construction). The wrapper does give it a unique "twang" (i.e. something I cannot put my finger on) so to speak, but I have only had 1 out of the 5.

I would much rather smoke a few more before offering the ultra specific tasting notes you are looking for. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in to help your decision rather than being slightly mocked.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend/mock you. Sometimes things come across the wrong way over the internet. Thank you for your insight.

I didn't think it was very good. Had to put it out half way.

Yeah, I would.
It was boring. Had a hint of brown sugar and compared to what I remember the cg4 having. But it was very faint and mainly cardboard like.
