While I disagree with the high scores the opus X scores in cigar aficionado's monthly tastings, I t is believable that a ten year old opus X could rate a 95.
I can tell you from recent experience that a 6 year old Opus DC will blow the back of your head off. 3 fingers of Johnnie Walker Green Label and one of these beauties, I wasn't fit to walk home 2 blocks let alone drive.
Fresh Opus are the biggest trap. They are just as likely to burn poorly and well. They are going to be over powering. The flavors are not settled or refined. Having gotten to a point in collecting Opus X, I now enjoy the luxury of not smoking anything less than 3-5 years old. I would prefer not to smoke a fresh Opus, but when your best friend gifts you one, you gotta smoke it with him, cest la vie.

I've perfected my slight of hand trickery so that I can always swap a fresh, gifted stick for one from my aged stash.... comes in handy during times such as you described

I actually payed for an Opus Chaeau once, I let it sit for about 6 months (in my humidor) before smoking and I wasnt at all surprised at the thing it wasnt anything special, that is one over hyped brand.
I just tried to check out your webpage, but there's practically no products. Is something wrong?
No I am still working on the site. I am the tech person there to and we just upgraded our Point of Sales system and I have been very busy with that. I am hoping to have the site completley done within a month.
