Colorado and light brown wrapper with one medium vein. Very solid roll with no soft spots. Intense cedar, wood, and spicy tobacco aroma. Very firm draw, cedar and sweet woody taste with a bit of hot pepper spice.
Lit evenly, razor sharp burn Solid white ash This belicoso is from April 2005. While still a bit young, I decided to smoke one to see how they’re progressing. After warm-up, the initial impression was cedar, a bit of cream and sweet notes around a core of strong tobacco.
About 1/3 in, the infamous hot pepper Opus spice began to make it presence. While not overly hot like a fresh Opus, there was a definite red pepper snap to it. Around the halfway point, the cigar settled down a bit and the core flavors of really good Dominican tobacco began to emerge - sweet rich smooth toasty tobacco. By 2/3 the red hot-pepper spiciness kicked up again along with some black pepper notes.
This Super Belicoso is arguably one of the mildest Opus. And while some love the hot red pepper spiciness of fresh Opus, I am solidly in the aged camp. The piquant hot cinnamon and sweet nutmeg spice of an aged Opus hinted at the end of this cigar but have yet to fully emerge. These need to sleep a bit longer I'll probably try one next August.

Perhaps it was a little reckless with such a good smoke, but I decided to enjoy an opus x robusto in the pool to avoid the heat. Didn't drop it in or get it wet; enjoyed it down to the nub.
Very nice review-made me totally want to break one of mine out early!
I love any Opus I can get, but I really treasure an aged one. I have just started my Opus collection over again, and have 8 or so of different sizes sitting in the humidor.
The Opus X Super Belicoso has been my regular Saturday night smoke for years. Obtaining them by the box has become increasingly difficult (Thats why I limit them to once a week)
I too find them mild with a peppery spice.
Maybe we should get together one Saturday evening to compare notes and martinis.
