Hey everyone,
Lately (as int he past year) I have been really getitng into smoking finer cigars. By finer I mean anything above swishers, black and milds and phillies. Lately I have had a few Punch stogs and really enjoyed them. I have also had an Excalibur that I really really enjoyed. I was wondering since Im so new to the cigar world, is what are some good brands and cigars to try. I want somehting smooth and big. I want a cigar to last me a while, like 9 holes on the course, or a little time onthe boat. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks for listening.

I would be open to trying a box as I leave for a weeklong vacation in a few days. Thanks.

I'll second that. Not a bad price for a really good smoke.

I don't have much more experience than you do, but depending on your taste, you may want to try Perdomo (Cabinet Reserve Series), Ghurka, CAO Brazilia - pretty good mid priced sticks. Since you'vre been smoking punch, have you had the Rare Corojo Magnum? Not bad...

Personal suggestion - if you're going to buy a box, buy the Rocky Patels. I smoke the things all the time. The 92 seem to have a little more body / spice than the 90. Just my opinion.

I'm relatively new myself, and experiment a lot, but always go back to Ashton Maduros for my mainstay.

The Diamond Crown Maximum's are good, try the Gispert Robusto Maduro, the A. Fuente Chateau Fuente (SG or Maduro), the list is endless. It really comes down to just buying a bunch of samples and trying them. Good Luck and Enjoy

I'm relatively new myself, and I much prefer a smooth, mild-to-medium smoke. I've discovered that you just can't go wrong with Montecristo White label or R&J Reserva Real. The R&J Vintage is a great, mild cigar, as well. Actually, I like it better than the Reserva Real.

If you have access and want to spend a lot of money, the best mild cigar I've ever smoked is the Davidoff Classic. It's an unbelievable cigar, but it certainly ain't for the thin of wallet!

Sorry, if I'm talking Cubans in the wrong area. I'm still unclear about the definition of "Cuban" anyway.

As far as mild smokes that you can get a box for for a decent price and have a good flavorful smoke, the Torano Casa Torano is a good choice. Also look at the 5 Vegas golds, which is a very decently priced Honduran long filler smoke with a shade wrapper. Nat Sherman Host selection would also be a good choice for a mild smoke that won't break the bank, as would the Occidental Reserve bundles from Hendrick Kelner. The Occidentals are available in shade or maduro wrapper, and chances are your local has them, or get them from CigarsInternational.com.

Medium strength, the Chateau Fuente's would be a good selection, and you have your choice of three wrappers on those. The Rocky Patel Vintage 92's with the sungrown wrapper are on the medium side, and you can also check out the Alec Bradley Havana SunGrowns if you like a medium flavored sun grown at a decent price.

For a beginner (not saying this in a pejorative way), any of the A. Fuente Hemingway Series (Best Seller or Work of Art, either natural or maduro, are fine choices). Macanudo Hampton Court, regular or Robust (common but satisfying). Any of the regular Padron cigars (or a 1964 series).
