Having heard so much about ALL of the Padilla brands and cigars, I would love to get my hands on some. In fact my next NC box purchase, I've made my mind up to buy Padilla. The problem is, there are I think 5 different blends and probably 30 different cigars. I haven't a clue as to which one I want to purchase. I've heard a lot about the Miami blend Robusto and it's 92 rating as well as the 1932 blend Lancero and it's 91 rating as well as all of the others. In fact, every blend has received rave reviews. I NEED HELP deciding which one to buy. Please give me your recommendations and tell me why I should buy the vitola you recommend. TIA !!!!

I've only smoked the Miami and the habano blends. Personally, I did not care for the habano blend.

As for the Miami, I smoked the corona and loved it! This stick produces huge amounts of smoke and was loaded with flavor. I picked up some cocoa and hints of tea. I am looking forward to smoking the rest of my box!

I'm down with the Miami, but that is the only one that shocked me!

The Miami 8/11 Corona is my favorite Padilla vitola, and my favorite NC corona. The Lancero is also a great smoke.

So many cigars, so little time...

Why in the world would you buy a box of cigars you've never tried before? Just because we like them doesn't mean you will. Plus, the Padilla brand is in flux, moving production of their core brands to a new factory. I would try some singles first, from the new production when it arrives, before you go all in on a $250+ box of smokes.

My wife got me a box of 68 Robustos a while back (she shops by CA ratings, lol) and I really like them a lot...they draw great and produce a ton of smoke...but they are very strong...almost a little too strong. The other few that I have tried (Miami and Habano) did nothing at all for me...

Just so we're all on the same page here, the reason I posted this thread is because first of all I know nothing of Padilla cigars. Secondly, I respect the opinion of the people who post here, and to gather information so I can make an informed decision. Once I have that information, I plan on buying a 5er of a couple different cigars. Based on what I like and don't like then I plan on buying a box. Thanks for the info about the factory being moved and all, but I'm sure there is enough stock in stores now for me to choose from.

Hey Tonito, so here are the reasons why I chose the Miami Corona:

* I loved the corona size. It provides great amounts of smoke, gives a bit more balance to the blend than the larger ring gagues (in my opinion), and it doesn't take forever to smoke.

* I loved the cocoa flavor that I picked up and it was the first time I ever experienced hints of tea in a cigar.

You're not getting it. It's not about adequate stock -- it's about quality. Don Pepin Garcia used to make the best Padillas. Now Ernesto Padilla is taking over 100% and making them in his own little factory.

Don Pepin has been making cigars for decades. Ernesto hasn't. We have yet to see whether the "new" Padillas live up to the old ones. So if you buy some 5-packs now that were made by Pepin, there's no guarantee that when you order a box that the new production will live up to the old. I hope it does, but it's still a question mark.

Listen, just trying to help, if you don't want to listen, whatever.

Padilla series 68 not made by Pepin got a 93 in Cigar Aficionado
Padilla Hybrid -Note made by Pepin got a -91
Padilla Habano not made by Pepin got a -90

Padilla Miami and 1932 and 1948 are all being made with tobacco from Eduardo Fernandez. Whos is Eduardo? He owns a large share of Pepin Garcia cigars. He supplys tobacco for brands like Illusione- check it -top 7 cigar of the year! He has the most experienced team of Cuban tobacco growers.

So what is in Miami ? the largest concentration of Cuban rollers outside of Cuba along with a long line of Cuban ex-pats that have been smoking cigars longer then we have been alive.

What I strive for is cigars made in the way Cuban tradition- that means from entubado to triple cap to the way the tobacco is processed in pre-industry.

Try the cigars and make your own decision but know that we are more then one manufacturer and I strive to make the best cigars on the market.

Regards,
Ernesto

I have to agree with E-Cord. I believe that Senior Padilla can and will blend a great cigar but we have to wait and see on the lines that Pepin blended. Right now the Padilla's I still have are Pepin blended.
I will definately be open minded with the Padilla blended Padilla's and they may even be the same blend but it is good advice to wait and see with the Pepin blended Padilla's.
Now Pepin hasn't made all of Padilla's cigars or blended them for that matter but I have found that IMO Pepin's are better.

I appreciate the help really I do, but I'm not gonna wait 3 months to make my purchase, I'm buying this or next week, and the ones I will buy will be Pepin blended. I understand that Pepin is no longer blending for Padilla, that is why I'm asking the question now, so I can buy NOW !!!

I've only had the '68. I bought a 10-pack and the first one I had was mediocre at best. But I can tell you that they age really well...the sticks from that 10-pack I have left are 3 or so months old and they are pretty good.

The 1932 is one of my favorite cigars. I also bought a box of the Habanos, a great medium bodied creamy smoke.

Based on the comments here (thank you) and having tried one given to me from a friend locally, I just purchased a box of the ORIGINAL Padilla Miami 8 & 11 robustos. A week or so ago, I did a Google search and found a tobacconist that not only had these originals in stock, put I saw where yesterday they put them on special for only $159, including shipping. What a lucky find, they also have the 1932s on special as well and are also the Pepin blended Padillas. Thanks for your responses, I would have waited for more, but I felt I had to act now before they were gone. Looks like I GET IT after all, LOL. BTW, if anyone wants to know the tobacconist, email me and I'll be glad to give it to you. Also, thanks Ernesto for posting on my thread. I bought these cigars because they are going to be a collector's item never to be made again. That does not mean I do not repsect your talent for blending great cigars, I know you have talent as evidenced by your other cigars which are non-Pepin blended. Once you are set up in your new facility, I plan on buying more of these Miamis as well as your 1932s and I would like to check out your Obsidien torpedos as well, CI has them priced inexpensively and with a bonus of 12 cigars consisting of Graycliff and Padilla cigars. Best of luck to you in your new facility, and keep doing what you do best, make great cigars.

I've just got to say that this is one great forum. I'm new to the boards so I've got to ask, "Is this for real?" Ernesto Padilla posts on here? Is he the first? I just have to say how much I appreciate him posting if this is actually him. I have not yet tried a Padilla cigar (because I'm new to cigars), but I must now. Thanks for taking the time to interact with your consumers, Ernesto. I definitely respect you for it and will sample your work.

This is a very dumb thread. That is not Ernesto himself that is a quote from him. And IMO that was one of the dumbest purchases you could have made. I have only had the 1932 and it was a great smoke but I will not purchase a box after trying only one. But whatever floats your boat. And for the price of the miami you could have got a ton of other boxes that are reviewed as a better smoke than the Miami like: Oliva V, La Flor Dominicana, or Tatuaje Havana VI.

Hey banes, why don't you tell us all how you really feel, LMFAO, and why you're at it since you're so knowledgable why don't you fix the stock market or cure cancer. Oh and BTW, how do you know I don't already have those cigars you've mentioned. WOW, must really take a lot of brain power to come up with posts like yours.
