I've been wanting to try one of these since CA rated it a 94. Have tried a few cigar shops and they have told me these are very hard to find right now and it may be a few months before they're able to get them in stock. Just wondering if any of you could help. Thank you.

All of my local B&M's always have them in spades. I have had several and they are good Golf Course cigar but they are nowhere near a 94. Beautiful in appearance, construction, and burn, but nothing special on the palate. I hope you have a better experience.

Rogers72 brings up a good point - just because it rates a 94 doesn't mean you'll like it.

Why kill yourself looking for Torpedos? It's the same blend throughout the line. One of the reasons the torp probably scored a 94 was due to apperance. So why not try the smaller belicoso instead or a double robusto? BTW -- Oliva has hinted that they may only be able to ship Torps three or four times a year due to demand, which was due to the 94 rating.

And thus we see a textbook example of hype.

It's not a bad cigar by any means. Personally, I might give it a 90. The construction was flawless and the draw absolutely tops, but flavor wise it wasn't as good as some other, lower-rated Nicaraguan puros.

well it looks like they are out of stock now Frown I love the doble robusto , but the torpedo is a work of art. Has anyone had the Figurado 6x60?

For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points."

I've only tried the double robusto, but I have a torpedo in the humidor and recently saw the figuardo at the local B&M. It does indeed look amazing. There's a sharp drop off from the 60-gauge foot to the nipple which is about a 30 ring gauge, which is very attractive.

Yeah, I used "nipple" and "attractive" in the same sentence, I'm a perv. Cool

I bought into the hype and bought a few; one local had several boxes in stock as of a couple of weeks ago.

Not nearly the blockbuster it's made out to be, but a very nice smoke. I had one with coffee today, and it was quite enjoyable; milder and more complex than I anticipated. I guess I'd give it about an 89-90.

I am a big fan of the construction, draw and flavor of the Serie V. Altogether, an exceptional smoke. The problem is that I don't smoke cigars at that ring gauge. I don't enjoy it. Personally, I think the only one worth smoking in the Oliva V line is the torpedo since you get a little taper at the head.

The B&M's are all back ordered from the hype the cigar created when it was released. Julie told me that she's going to be out 3-6 months on the V line. Check online, or be patient Smile

I was going to ask if everyone had the torpedo, but now I see grant88 had the double robusto.

I thought the double robusto was excellent. Was not that strong, but extremely smoothe and I thought very flavorful. I think people looking for more flavor should try the Gispert Maduro Robusto. I thought that had too much flavor. It was good the first 1/2 or so, but after that, I was done.

The point I was going to make in the beginning is I had a Padilla Miami torpedo and felt it had significantly less flavor that the robusto. Was wondering if the series V torpedo would be the same. I'm going to try to find an Oliva series V torpedo for comparison. I thoroughly enjoyed the double robusto.

If you can't find any and want to try one, cigar.com has singles of the double robusto for $5.50 a piece. I think I spent about that much at the one place by me that has almost everything. He's a bit more expensive but as I said, he has almost everything. Only problem with online is you'll probably need to let it sit for a while to balance out. I'm not very good at that.

I have smoked a couple of these and think they are a smooth smoke, but they just don't do it for me.

For every person who loves these, there's someone who feels the way you do. That's why I'm so sad to see people blasting full boxes of these without even trying a single first.

Yeah, that's the thing. The Serie V is near perfect in terms of quality and construction. It's beautifully made. I like them a lot but I like Oliva's blending. A 94 rating isn't misleading to experienced smokers because we know that the rating reflects objective criteria. It's the subjective part that some people still don't understand, and that's purely a matter of individual taste.

Anyone feeling buyer's remorse about these should e-mail me.. I'd be interested in buying the remainder of your box off of you. I think they are fantastic.
