Can somebody share info on how strong/mild they are? Since they used to be up to Cuban standards, I would guess that they are still in medium to full direction, as to not have scared away all their old customers. But since I keep hearing about the excellent build, as well as good reviews overall, I'd like to pick up a box at Duty-Free next week.

Can anybody give me some info as to flavour and/or strength of the various lines? I have a couple of Anniversario No.1's in my humidor that I received as a gift, but haven't tried them yet...

I'm not a big Davidoff smoker -- I don't have a dealer in my area right now -- but I tried some five-packs a few years ago from Holt's when I lived near Philadelphia. I just smoked my last one this summer, a cornona in a white tube. I think it was a 2000???

The standard Davidoffs were very mild and creamy, a lot like a Griffin's. Gorgeous cigars -- I wish I could afford them by the box!

I also tried the Grand Cru series. They were medium bodied, if memory serves, with a bit more coffee-like character. Still a very mild smoke in comparion to a Honduran like a Punch or Hoyo.

Finally, I got a five-pack of the thousand series corona. I couldn't discern much difference between them and the standard line of Davidoffs.

One thing I can say is that, of the 15 cigars I bought, I never had a bad one. I'd remember because I dropped a big chunk of change, something like $200 on three 5-packs...that's Havana money! It's the most money I've spent on NC cigars, and though I still think they're way overpriced, you certainly can't go wrong. Hopefully I'll have time to visit the new Davidoff store on Madison in NYC on a business trip later this month...though I'm planning on only picking up a box of Private Stock (the Davidoff seconds brand) I may have to spring for another 5-pack.

They're the ultimate NC cigar for special occasions, in my opinion.

As a Canadian, my taste in cigars are on the whole Cuban -- medium to full bodied. While I used enjoyed a Davidoff because they were extremely well made and consistant cigars, they were too mild for me.

However, the recently released Millenium Blend line are perfect. They are full bodied smokes that pack the same quality you expect from Davidoff. In fact, if you close the lights you would think you're smoking a Cuban cigar. I would recommend them to Americans who can't get Cubans and are interested in what they can expect from a good box of contraband.

Yes, if your looking for the med/full you will want the Millenium line. Perfect construction (just what you'd expect from a Davidoff).

I also highly recommend the Davidoff Short Perfecto. It's a little firecracker and a very classic shape.

Smoke it.

Good point... I'm not just ready yet!

But I am wondering if they have anything in the mild/medium direction. Perhaps in the Hoyo EP2 direction?
