hello. just wanted to introduce myself and ask a quick question...

found this forum while researching what cigars to buy when our son arrives in early may. i have found the suggestions on the forum very helpful and i love the search feature, better than some of the car forums i belong to...i've always enjoyed a mild cigar and now i have an excuse to try a bunch of different kinds!

anyhow, after searching i bought some singles from 2 different online retailers...macanudo hampton court, r y j rr verona's court, r y j romeo's court, don diego corona major, 2 different 5 vegas, and a purple label house brand...i wanted mild to medium cigars, preferably in a tube, and i think one of the
r y j's comes labeled "it's a boy"...pretty neat.

long story short i wanted to "audition" a couple of retailers. one of the cigars i received - the r y j rr verona's court tubo - looked moldy. i did a search and learned all about bloom (plume) vs. mold. still, i can't determine which it is. has anyone received cigars in the mail that were moldy? maybe it's bloom? any help would be appreciated!

thanks for a great cigar resource.

wow. thanks. nice link! well, i'm pretty sure it's mold. i saw a few posts suggesting i could wipe it off and smoke it...is that really the case? seems strange, i would have guessed that it was ruined. thanks again!

I also have read that you can wipe it off. I would guess as long as it is only surface mold and not into the meat you should be ok. Also I guess depends on what you payed for it.

I haven't had much experience with Mold on my cigars. When I did have it, I exaimined it very closely to evaluate the extent of the mold. If it appeared supuerficial, I did as Exthawk said I wiped it off. The cigar smoked fine, and there was no ill taste.
On another I had noticed the mold had developed not only on the surface but also inside, there wasn't much inside, but I tossed all the same, no cigar is worth risking any serious health issues.

Exthawk....I was not a Jumpmaster....But I was Airborne!!!!!
