My local cigar shop just got in 5 boxes, double corona, reserva d'chateau, robusto, perfection x and fuente fuente. There is a limit and they are rather expensive $10.75-$17.40 I was just wondering if any of you have tried them and what size you recommend. I haven't seen many reviews on them, but I hear they are great. Fell free to write any reviews if you have tried one.
If you read around this site you would see almostevery 3rd post is about them.
I for one don't think they are all that great, and forget about the price. Those prices you listed are great, but still not worth it. If they were $5 I don't think I would be smoking them. They have a lot of burn problems, and I just can't stand that.

there has been a lot posted about the Opus X on these boards. If you use the search feature I am sure you will have all your questions answered about this cigar.
My opinion......it is something everyone should at least try once unless you are a CC smoker only. Yes it is an expensive cigar but the prices you listed seem reasonable. I have had several and do think it is a good cigar but a little pricey to have on a regular basis. I say this because there are quite a few smokes out there that are just as enjoyable and far less on the wallet. Personally, I prefer the Padron Anniversary 64 maduro as my special smoke in that price range and it is available much more often than the Opus. Opus gets a lot of hype and they release quantities sparingly (dealers usually only get them twice a year) which creates additional buzz about them. If you get some, let them sit a while in your humidor before you smoke them.
Again.....while they are a great smoke, I don't think it is the be-all-end-all of NC cigars IMHO
I had my first Opus just a few weeks ago. I paid about $10 for it. It was about a corona size and was cedar-wrapped.
It was definitely strong, and definitely smooth, but it didn't really have any flavor of its own. It tasted very strong of the cedar in which it was wrapped, but I didn't get much actual flavor from the tobacco itself.
The wrapper was beautiful, and it burned to perfection, but it left something to be desired for a super-premium smoke.
It's something that you should try for not much reason other than to say that you have had one...but I'd rather spend that kind of money on an Ashton or a Padron Anniversary.

Digital Demon- take a trip to the Tacoma Mall Tinder box, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Do not gauge the entire Opus X line by one of the types only. Each type has it's own flavor profile which is different from the next. I personally love the Fuente Fuente and the non-cedar wrapped ones. The cedar-wrapped smokes due tend to be woody, and I have also had one that lacked a lot of flavor, but only one ended up that way.

You should send a note to the Fuentes about that price gouging

The corona size #4 is the best in my books, although I haven't tried all the sizes. Some cigars are just better with a smaller ring guage and I think Opus falls in this category.
The fuente fuente is an outstanding cigar.......well they all are but my favorite is the FF and then it would be the robusto out of the ones you listed.
Digital_Demon I'm with you..... the prices for Opus X's are out the roof here in Wa state. And for that price you might as well buy in London.

I here ya! That's why I don't buy them generally in WA. Especially because Bellingham has no selection of cigars whatso ever! Nice to see some fellow Washingtonian's on board!

haha, nice you see you guys! Yeah Bellingham has nothing, but it is 15 minutes from the Canadian border . My parents live down in Redmond so I usually take a trip to Fine Wine and Cigars and Redmond Pipe and Cigar when I'm down visiting.

If more of us start showing up here....hey we might need to get together for a smoke!
I only buy when I travel or my mail. Have never bought up in Canadian though But I have only bought in Wa once or twice .....That reminds me my passport is up for renewal.

Now I hear this. I had my first one two weeks ago and I couldn't keep it lit for anything. Like many others have said I don't see what all the fuss is about. Maybe if I could have kept it lit and it didn't make me sick to my stomach I would have enjoyed it more.

I had the #4 as well and it was too strong to enjoy. I really don't like anything that small but that was all the lady had this time. (She is talking about retiring and if she does there will be no OpusX dealers for miles)

People love to hate the Opus X, I always enjoy watching these post come up and all the closet Opus smokers come out of the woodwork and bad mouth them. Personally I like the Super Belicosa, very much a tremendous smoke.

The only Opus X i have smoked was the Fuente Fuente size, and i loved it. it burned and smoked perfectly. i think i paid around 12.50 for it, which doesnt seem too bad after seeing some of the other prices people are paying for these sticks.
