Hmmm...now this is going to bug me.

I haven't smoked one from the box without ribbon and varnish smell yet to compare to the one with ribbon without varnish smell. Maybe that is the next step.

All boxes should come with Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial 2008 Ribbon. Varnish?? Boxes are new / young but not varnish. That's my experience all boxes our store sold.

I have my box from CI, but I don't want to open it up and see if it has the ribbon or not. It did not smell of varnish though I'm certain of that.

ALL RIGHT!
I got my two boxes today. I am stoked!!
The boxes are wrapped in plastic. Upon removal i could smell some varnish, stain, on the outside of the box. I let them sit for about an hour and the smell is fading. Looks to me that they did not allow the stain to completely dry before they wrapped them.

The sticks inside look WONDERFUL, and both boxes have the brown sash.

I am going to let the boxes sit out over night to dry out, then I will toss them in the Humi.
I will pull off the wrappers on the sticks to let them ferment together.

checked two of them. Firm, not underfilled. They smell great. I am a big Oliva fan, and these look typical of the construction quality.

damn I feel like burning one right now!
