I bought a cigar today, non humidified as usual. It's an American made called Phillies, costing not more than $1. First of all I noticed it's outside texture, the wrapper; the veins were not clear as they were in the Jose Bartolo I smoked before (which I did not like) and it was also a bit lighter in color, claro I think.
Anyway, before lighting it, I put it in my mouth, the wrapper tastes very sweet and this encouraged me. I lighted and started drawing. Of course you can't get the taste of the cigar from the first couple of draws, so I had to be a little bit patient. The wrapper was still sweet in my mouth and the smoke started to be sweet and even a bit spicy sometimes. It sometimes left a tingling sensation on the tip of my tongue. At about it's middle, it started getting really rich. I can't describe the exact taste but it was good and by the end of the stick it started getting very strong that I even accidentally inhaled one draw which was very strong on my throat.
The thing I noticed is that sometimes one draw tasted something and the next draw had another taste. It was a pretty good experience that lasted maybe 45 minutes or so.
Anyone tried this cigar before??

I'm starting to feel sorry for this guy. Maybe we should send him some cigars. Actualy, I'm told, that Phillies are better when the tabacco is removed and filled with a plant of another nature.
Just in case you really don't know. Phillies are among the cheapest of the cheap machine made cigars. You won't see any veins in the wrapper because it is made of emulsified tobacco produced in sheets and cut to wrap cigars made of short filler.

I used to smoke Phillies, El Producto, etc. in college. Especially when watching the UNH hockey practices. Could smoke in the arenas back in the 70's. I could never smoke more than half of those sticks, so congrats are in order for being able to finish your Phillies.
Being somewhat newer to cigars myself I would definitely say you should steer away from the cheap American made cigars. But, if you enjoy them that's fine. I just think that there are so many better ones out there, many of which are at an affordable rate you're seeking. Try some of the lighter Macanudo's of smaller size. They run a couple of bucks and aren't bad at all. In fact they're quite enjoyable. From there you can gravitate to a higher level.
But to be honest, I would barely call what you're smoker a cigar. And I don't know if anyone stated it or not, but stay away from the flavored cigars. They taste like pure fire! If you don't mind me asking where do you purchase cigars?
