I recently smoked a Perdomo Lot 23, and truly enjoyed it. The cigar was very smooth and creamy. Does anyone have other recommendations that would be comparable to the Lot 23?

SteveSur, I know all tastes are different and its all opinion but I find the Perdomo Lot 23 and Don Pepin Cuban Classics to be very different in all ways. I also find the DP Black to be far far superior. Of course this is my humble opinion.

Both are Nicaraguan. Padrons are great smokes as-well. IMO most Padrons are a better smoke than the Lot 23.
I found the Lot 23's to be enjoyable but very one dimensional. I enjoyed the natural as well, even though I normally prefer maduros. The cigar had nice spice (not too much, but just enough) and was good for a cheap every day smoke.
I thoroughly enjoy the Padron 5000 maduro, but I find it significantly different from the lot 23's. Padron has a very distinct flavor. The 1926 is the smoothest of the bunch, but at $20-$25 a smoke, its out of my price range for a daily smoke. The Padron 3000's are pretty cheap, but again, they have that distinct Padron flavor.
One of my favorites right now is an Oliva series V. They will be hard to find, but for $5.50 for the double robusto, its an excellent smoke. It too starts off spicy, but it developes into alot more as the cigar progresses.
The best thing to do is search the board for favorites and then look into the highest rated cigars over the past few years. I have found everyone of my current favorites that way.
I smoked my second lot 23 this week and throughly enjoyed it. Both of mine were maduro though... guess I'll have to pick up a natural and see what the fuss is about.

The Lot 23 Natural is the smoothest, most creamy cigar I've ever smoked. It is true that it's not complex, but it is a very satisfying smoke none-the-less. For a more spicy cigar that still has the smoothness of the Lot 23, I recommend the Perdomo Habano. But there is something about the Lot 23 that is unique and it's a cigar I could enjoy every day.
The Lot 23s are very nice, I stocked up on the Maduro robustos. If you like those try some Romeo Y Julieta Viejos. They are absolutly scrumptious and very well made.

I recently tried the Lot 23 natural robusto was very surprised to find such quality and great flavor in a relatively inexpensive cigar (and when it comes to cigars, price is no object for me).
After my exprience with the natural I tried the Lot 23 Maduro and liked it even better than the natural.
Neither of these cigars taste anything like a Don Pepin Cuban Classic, another excellent cigar that is a little more pricey than the Lot 23.
