I am new to both this forum and to the world of cigars. Or perhaps to be more specific the world of finer cigars. Anyway I am looking for suggestions for good cigars. They will probabaly be purchased as singles, I have looked at sampler packs offered by various online dealers. But i lack at this point in time a way of storing cigars. I currently enjoy them on the weekend. I have tried Acid's Liquid and Blondie, enjoyed them both. And one from I assume(remember i am a newbie please correct me if i am in error) The Griffon's, which i did not enjoy so much. I believe a milder smoke will be much more suitable to my tastes. So I welcome any suggestions and knowledge those here would care to share with me. Thank you ahead of time.
Unless you're going to purchase your singles from a local shop to smoke right away your 1st move should be to grab youself a small humidor for storage.
As for recommending a mild cigar, well that's a tough call because The Griffins is a mild smoke..........unless perhaps you lit up a Griffins Fuerte?
I guess a safe bet would be Macanudos or Romeo y Julietta Reserva Real lines for other mild smokes.
Good Luck! Half the fun in cigar smoking is trying new and different cigars.

You will probably get a lot of guff from the guys by mentioning ACID. I first started out on ACID's, then I had a Monte Petite Edmundo and never went back. I won't knock the ACID, because they as a company do well, but I will never smoke one for the rest of my time on this earth. I am not sure what they mean by infused, nor do I care; don't waste your money. If you are looking for a mild smoke, try the Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliber Epicure CT, Arturo Fuente Chateau, Montecristo White Label, or go with the Oliva's. I will hold my ground next to Oliva. Some of the stuff they have is more around medium bodied, but they have a great selection, and they are very consistent. When you want a excellent, well priced smoke, go for the Oliva Series V. That is my go-to. I am sure that others will also give their favorites. Stay off of the ACID!
Yes I have been purchasing them and smoking them right away. Basically because i am only smoking about once a week. As for the exact type of Griffin I am unsure but will be more sure next time i go to the shop. I have been looking into a small humidor just have yet to decide as to which one. Thank you for your input. It is greatly appreciated.
Mr.Goodfella, I am aware of the flak i will probably recieve for mentioning acid as from what i have read around the forums that word seems to be taboo. But I am of the mindset that an opinion belongs to the person. I will not knock anyones opinion and am open to all suggestions. I will take your recomendations in mind on my next trip to the local shop. thank you as well for your input, It is greatly appreciated.
silver: just a little heads up, when you think "little humidor" you should start thinking bigger....i would say think of what size you want and double or triple that and then buy that size....you will start to accumulate cigars very rapidly once you get your humidor, i got a 50 count humi in the middle of march and now i have the 50 ct. full as well as 2 tupperware containers full and i just got a 200 count in that's being seasoned right now....2 words: think BIG

My thoughts exactly on the humidor. As for now you can buy a Arturo Fuente humi bag and store a couple of smokes in there. That way you do no have to buy 1 at a time.
As for smoke I will recommend what I like in mild cigars. I would try maybe, Fonseca 5-50, Oliva Serie G. I am not much on flavors anymore but if you absolutely want to smoke another flaored, try a Kahlua. Very mild but decent smoke.

When I first started I had a 50ct. humi and I grew out of it very fast. Thank god fathers day was right around the corner; my wife got me a 300ct. which I have been very happy with. El diablo humi
Good advice on this board. I am an occasional smoker, so I wind up storing what I buy. The comments on the humidor are spot on! Buy bigger than you need (within reason -- you don't need a walk-in for 5 sticks). Enjoy!

2nds and 3rds on humidor size. Get one 2-3 times the size you think you'll ever need. My lovely wife bought me one for my birthday. It was great, but have since filled it and built one twice it's size.
As for mild smokes, I started with Tatiana vanilla and rum. I liked the flavored cigars and they are mild. You don't get the head rush of the stronger, fuller smokes. CAO Gold are good mild smokes, Romeo y Julieta also. Haven't seen them much here, but one called Omar Reyes is mild. Padron 3000 is more toward medium, but still a nice one to try.
Hope these ideas help. Just buy some and try them. That is the only real way to see if you like them and to see what your individual tastes are. They will be different from everyone else's.

No need in repeating everything said about humis, however in my experience B&Ms humis are overpriced. For example I bought a 25ct from my local for $50, then I got a 75-100ct from tampahumidor.com for ~$50.
As for smokes everything recommended is good. Personally I enjoy fuller bodied smokes down to medium. But in my opinion the Fuente Hemingways are pretty mild.
Oh and before I forget WELCOME!!!

Thank you all for the suggestions, tips and advice given so far. I will take it all into account along with the cigars suggested. I do hope to eventually share my expierence here with all of you and those that join as you all have with me.
Allow me to offer some anecdotal evidence to what everyone is saying about humidor size.
I thought a 50-75 ct. box would be great. I didn't see myself purchasing and storing more than 50 cigars at a time. So I took everyone's advice and bought a 125 count. I should have doubled that and gotten a 300 count. I don't know what size cigar companies use to derive "count" but they must be small, perhaps petite coronas? I'm not sure but my 125 ct. humi is now full (I could probably squeeze 3-4 more sticks in there) at about 50 cigars. I tend to smoke fatter and longer cigars (robusto to toro and torpedo) so there aren't very many coronas hanging around but still...
I bought a box, two 5 packs, and a bunch of singles. I have found 1-2 other sticks I'd buy a box of but I can't. Might be time for a secondary coolerdor for longer term storage.

There are no good smoke shops here, unfortunately. Just a place that has a few of the above mentioned cigars. There is a place in the crossroads mall in kalamazoo that i have yet to check out though. Tinderbox is the name of it.
Also on a side note the Griffin cigar i mentioned earlier this thread was a No.500 Thank you again all for all the advice and suggestions. Tonight I am enjoying a CAO cameroon Toro I believe(the sizes still confuse me) a very good smoke in my uneducated opinion. Thanks again
Someone told me to find the size of your humidor, figure out the number you smoke in a year, double it and add 100. I never would have believed it when I started out, but I wish I would have listened. Bought a 75 count, but could easily fill a 300 count nowadays.
