I dig the Centannarios so i tried one of their Cabinets (which is basically their regular line) and overall the flavor was simple but pleasant and it was a nice mild-medium bodied smoke... but the ash!!!!
The ash on the No.47 i smoked (robusto) was over 2.5 inches (Seahawkfan would be jealous )!
Anybody have similiar experiences with these?

I like the Cuesta Reys quite a bit and usually have some of the Sun Grown Torps or Robustos in my box. I also have enjoyed one that comes in a tube called the "Tuscany" (not sure why, but then again they have one called "Captiva" too). I find it to be a nicely made, solid and mild smoke.

The Cabinet #47s are good cigars. Good cigars hold their ash.

The Sun Growns are one of my new favorite cigars and yes, the ash is awesome.....snow white, firm, and able to hold for several inches. Love em! May have to go get some more....only have one #11 and one Robusto left.

I rarely have cigars go over 1 1/2", let only 2. Not saying it's totally uncommon, but i was very suprised at the quality in construction on these puppies.
I've never tried them yet for some reason, and lately, I've been thinking about ordering a box of 10. Which would you all recommend being better, the sungrowns or the regular line cabinets?
Two of the cigars with the most consistent, longest ashes I know are the Cuesta-Rey Centanarios and the JR's HFC's. Both frequently hold a 1.5" ash without trying and 3" of ash when I try.
Agreed. The Cabinet 47s have always been well constructed. Not a cigar that I hear about, but I never smoked one that I did not enjoy (wish I could say that about every line and vitola).
Well kept secret.

Binder, what size do you have on the HFC's, because I have the Toro and the ash is straight up bad. I mean this sucker fall off at about a quarter of an inch. No lie here. I almost always have a bad burn also. No other smoke I have is like this, so I know its not my humi.

Idesign, the sungrowns are real cedary. Talking about ash I had 3" going on the the RP Edge Corojo Torp the other night with out even trying. If I would of been babying it there aint no telling how long it would of got.

If I am not mistaken... Cuesta-Rey is now owned by Fuente...typical Fuente construction and quality, though the blend is very different...I can pick up the "Fuente Flavor profile" sometimes right at the end of the smoke. The Maddies & Centro Fina SGs are superb IMHO.

Cuesta-Rey is brand name is still owned by the J.C. Newman cigar company, but is made for the Newman's by Fuente in one of Fuente's factories. In return, the Newman's make some machine mades for Fuente, an agreement going back a few decades.
The Cuesta-Rey sungrowns are an excellent smoke and one of my favorite sungrowns in the larger sizes.
