I was wondering if any of you have tried both of these and how they compare. I love the C.A.O.s and am wondering if the Olivias are comparable at all. Thanks.
Yeah, the Oliva 10th Annies are mild. I smoked one like a month ago and wasn't real impressed. It was a mild smoke, that was slightly 'hay'-ish. Try it out, I think I only paid ~ $2.75 for one robusto.
There is no comparison. I don't even really like most of what CAO makes but I would take their anniversaries any day over the FDO 10th anniversary. It is a commemorative bundle cigar?!?

They come in an octagon like box, not a bundle. I would say they CAO blows them out of the water. But the FDO 10 yr anni is very young, who knows, it may turn out to be a good smoke in the long run.
Cigarsmoka- I picked some up last week and smoked them. They are underfilled and taste mediocre at best. My review is on the review forum. Symantics aside, Point is they put out the cigar to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the FDO bundles. Oddly enough, I like the regular bundle maduros better than the fancy bundled-in-a-box 10th anniversaries. I truly don't understand the logic behind this move.

These are two VERY different cigars. Do not be fooled by the "anniversary" in the name. You are comparing apples to oranges.
First, the CAO L'Anniversaire is a regular line, not a special or limited edition. The eXtremes are one of the most powerful extensions of this brand. I find them strong but as with a lot of powerhouse cigars, they club you and your tastebuds to death without any real complexity. When I smoke these they usually have 6-12 months age and even then they are only "decent."
Next we have the Flor de Oliva Anniversary, which is a mild to medium cigar. You have to remember that Flor de Olivas are a very inexpensive cigar to begin with so don't expect a lot from the Anniversary Churchill. At around $50 a box, this isn't anything special. I am not a big fan of FdO's but have smoked them on occasion, including an Anny Robusto. There are much better cigars than this, among them the Gran Cameroon Figurado. Incidentally the Gran Cameroon series sells for more than the 10th Anny series, so that should tell you something right there.
To sum it all up, you basically have two mediocre cigars at opposite ends of the strength spectrum that just happen to have "Anniversary" in their names.
