Since I started smoking cigars, I have always wanted to try Davidoffs. Thanks to V.O., I had the chance to smoke a Davidoff Short Perfecto cigar.

The short perfecto is a very elegant looking cigar, tapering at both sides with a length of 5 inches and a 50 ring gauge.

Here is a photo, though you'll have to excuse me for the bad quality and the lack of light.

The pre lit draw was good, with a bit of drag, and once lit, the cigar started developing in a very good way. At first, the taste was a bit rude and harsh on the palate, but a after a few puffs it tamed down and became smooth and tasty.

Now I am not very good at describing cigar tastes, so I can't tell exactly what it tasted of, but the woody notes were evident, that I can be sure of.

The smoking time for this cigar was around 40-50 minutes for me. It was a good cigar all in all, except for one unpleasantness; this cigar knocked me out like a bitch.

I didn't really excpect a Davidoff to knock me out this way, but given the fact I smoked it on an almost empty stomach, with a meal of salty Herring fish some hours before it, and without a cup of coffee to pair it with as I am used to, I think I should have seen this coming.

If it weren't for the unpleasantness that accompanied this cigar, I'd give it a very high rating, but since I rate the overall cigar experience; the smoke, the pairing, the whole condition of smoking, I will give it an 85.

I really expected much more from Davidoffs, with all the hype, and given the $12 price tag for this short perfecto, but looks like they don't live to the hype, or maybe it was my fault for not having a full meal before smoking it.

Thanks a million V.O. for providing the smoke. Looking forward to try the other stuff you nuked me with, specially the RPs.

Nice review.
I liked it. Had to exhale through the nose. Strong espresso and black pepper flavors.

Lucky, I think I see Bigfoot in that pic! LOL

Good review man. I think most NCs begin a bit harshness and spice and calms down after about an inch.

Hey Lucky, good review. My advise though: do not light up on an empty stomach, even if you know the cigar isn't strong (and I actually consider Davidoff Special series to be rather mild). On my book, these indeed have strong woody flavor, plus some floral and herbal, and slightly earthy - all in mild to medium range. I agree that Davidoffs are overpriced, but I do enjoy them time to time.

Also, I'd suggest that you leave the smokes to rest in humi for a while to stabilize. They have undergone air travel with 3 stops, mishandling by overzealous post worker and another week in close contact with humi pillow.

Enjoy!

Yeah, I'll leave them to rest for a while. Won't smoke anything else now. The Davidoff was just tempting me, I couldn't resist it.

I am leaving them in a cedar box with no humidification, the humidity is already high, more than 68% as shown by the hygro.
