Quick Question:

I'm fairly new to smoking cigars and I will be going to the Bahamas soon. I had a friend tell me that the Bahiba line (apparently this is their local brand) at Graycliff is worth a try. Any thoughts on it?

I smoked a couple on my last trip to the bahamas. dec 05. They are very good. definatly worth a try. The freshly rolled grayclffs from the factory are also excellent.

I am sorry I just do not understand the attraction of the GreyCliff's.
I tried them since they first came out. Always hoping there would be some improvement.

My experience of these cigars have been underwhelming.
The are devoid of flavor, it reminds me of smoking dry hay, and balsa wood. Any flavor that would have developed were gone because the cigars were loosely rolled resulting in too hot of a burn, along with a thin smoke from the ease of the draw.
I have one of the expresso GreyCliffs that was given to me, and I have yet to smoke, So who knows.

Since your cigar experience is limited, I would say sure buy some and smoke it. Part of this whole thing of ours is experience, I can only tell you what I think, as did RSpro gave his experience and advice.
Now the rest is up to you. Buy some, smoke them, and be the judge.
Then come back and let us know what you think.

Probably the best advice here.

The ones I've smoked (which were given to me) I vaguely remember as grassy and herbal tasting. I agree, they're wickedly overpriced.

I'm writing from the Bahamas Smile Beats the hell out of the rain and cool weather in Toronto.

Took the advice and bought a Bahiba to try. I thought it was pretty good. I'm fairly new at this so it's tough to comment on construction etc and I tend to prefer milder to medium bodied cigars so that should give you an idea on where I'm coming from.

I thought the taste was good. It was mild but still felt like it had some flavour to it. I bough the corona size and it lasted about 40 minutes (is this typical?) The price was great too. The Bahiba is the "entry level" (for lack of a better term) cigar from Graycliff. The corona size was $5 USD each and the guy gave me 12 for the price of 10 when I went back to buy some to bring home.

If you prefer stronger cigars these are not for you but all in all a very pleasant 40 minutes.

PS: has anyone ever heard of Correnti Cigars in Toronto? They also come recommened and are about 15 min from my place in Toronto.

Cheers
