What? No plug for Tiny Tim????? Oh, I'm hurt! My "Must Try List" is, by all accounts, a frugal cigar smokers list, but it still has good cigars on it! If you're an everyday cigar smoker and can afford $6-plus cigars twice a day, everyday; great! But if you're like me and can't afford that, then there is a NEED for a "Frugal Must Try List"! Consuegra Old Fashioned Quorum Nicaraguan Factory Corojo Oliva original blend Oliva Gold ... and others, but that's a good start! Tiny Tim Sergeant at Arms S.N.O.B. #1020

While I don't agree that the thread became pointless, it should not be a surprise that it ended up with a wide, wide range of cigars on it. Remember that the original critia was "The cigars in this list should either have excellent, or pleasantly interesting, taste characteristics." There is a lot of room between excellent and pleasantly interesting. And even though we were encouraged to be "picky" maybe the individual contributors were being picky. It's just that their picky is not necessarily someone else's picky. Seems like we're on the verge of confusing opinion with fact.
Anyway, the only way to make the list even more interesting than it already is would be to, as Tony says, "narrow it down." Right now it is basically an unfiltered list. If you want to see which cigars rise to the top, then another filter has to be used. One filter might be to rank the list based on how many mentions every cigar received. Another would be to cut from the list an cigar that was not mentioned at least, say, three times. I suspect Tony M might do something like this once he has the time and the inclination. It's still been an interesting exercise.

Wow that is a long list of "must try" but there are two cigars that come to mind that no one has mentioned. 1.La flor Dominacan- the 2000 series and if you enjoy very strong cigars the double ligero is not to be missed...real ass kicker makes The Edge look like a Macanudo cafe. 2. Graycliff- A very expensive cigar but really worth the cost if you can find them. Very complex. Personally i prefer the white band but all of the blends are excelent. Although the purple Gra Curo lacks flavor as far as i'm concerned.

Haha. I know. That wasn't my intention upon starting the list. But I should've expected it with the diverse tastes of smokers out there. I usually look for the cigars that are mentioned/praised more than once. But again, your own tastes may vary.

Holy fecal matter batman, Rocky Patel Vintage hasn't made the list yet? That has to be a mistake on Tony's compilation I'm sure it has been mentioned in the other messages. I like the sumatran wrapper best but the Broadleaf is beautiful also.

The list is too long to be of any value. Cut it down to the top 20.

When personal tastes are involved, you are gong to get very subjective opinions. There is no accounting for taste, and everything is good to somebody. I consider the constituent tobaccos of a cigar when deciding to try something new, since I pretty much know what I like. I tend to favor Ecuadorian wrappers with Honduran/Nicaraguan binders and fillers, although I do like some Conn. broadleaf wrappers, and some Mexican filler/binder material. I tend to like stronger cigars, so tend to not smoke Dominicans, but rather Nicaraguans, Hondurans, and a few Cubans. My "normal" day consists of Te-Amo Toros early, then Joya de Nicaragua Consuls, followed by Punch Rothschilds or Champions, and sometimes a Punch Britannia.

I'm so glad I tried the CAO Brazilia last night, I had no idea it was so popular on here. Definitly jumped to the top of my list. Other cigars that haven't been mentioned yet-CAO CX2 (I much prefer this over the MX2) and Gran Habano Connecticut. I got a buddy of mine a VSG at an Ashton event last week. I haven't tried it yet, but based on what I've heard, I may just have to substitute 2 cigars for that one.

If no one has mentioned it already, I recommend trying the new Davidoff LE 100 Year Robusto.
This cigar is unlike any other Dominican, Nic, Honduran or for that matter, any Cuban cigar. A very unusual and delicious cigar. Here is the review:
I have to say it is an extremely unique cigar, unlike any other I've ever had. The tobacco is obviously well aged, with a very white ash, and the flavors and aroma are, well, very unusual, but in a good way.
This is a very toasty, creamy, medium bodied cigar. The flavors are very tough to put a finger on, vanilla, cinnamon, gingerbread & citrus...almost a powdery quality. Predominately seco leaves I would guess. Extremely well made and unlike any Davidoff, or any other cigar, I've ever tried before. The aroma is completely intoxicating. The flavors just keep building and building...incredible. Very, very nice cigar...highly recommended.
