Pete has issued a statement on the Tatuaje website, addressing concerns regarding the Drac and Boris release. Good form, if you ask me.

Yeah, i knew as soon as i smelled my drac box and all the cigars that were in it that it was going to be an issue. Mine smelled so strong i couldn't believe it. None of mine were damaged at all though and i don't understand why that would be an issue.

I was satisfied with the box that I got, but I got The Boris. Since those didn't come with a painted interior I guess I was fortunate. I do wish that the distribution was done differently, and Pete Johnson has acknowledged that next years distribution would most likely be different. Tatuaje are quality cigars, that is for sure and I've never had a bad one. I think that these hard to find sticks should be distributed to those loyal to the brand first. I don't know how that can be done but I am satisfied with the sticks that I got. I am and have been much more excited about the release of the Tatuaje Blacks, I hope I can secure a box of those. I have noticed a lot of negatives on other boards about the marketing but Pete Johnson is a businessman and he has done a brilliant job marketing, but marketing is only part of the formula for success, delivering a quality product is the other part. Tatuaje always delivers a quality product.

A similiar thing happened with the Oliva Serie V maduros. Some of the boxes came out with a strong varnish smell and were missing the brown ribbon inside. When I contacted Oliva they had me send the boxes back to them and promptly replaced them for me.

One of my favorite things about the cigar industry is people like the Oliva's and Pete who pride themselves on creating amazing products and providing even better customer service.

I'm with you guys, in the grand scheme of things, this is a very minor issue which Pete seems keen to correct.

I'd also echo Presley's statement that Tatuaje built its reputation on quality and distinctiveness. It's not a marketing driven brand like some others.

"Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Cuba. The wrapper would be from Cuba. The binder leaves would be from Nicaragua. For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points."
