I have an odd problem that I need advice on. I have noticed lately that I am getting very small perfectly round holes in the cigars in my humidifier!!Is it BUG? It started in a small group of cigars and is starting to spread to other cigars. If anyone knows what this is and how I can stop it that would be great. Mad

Yep. You've got the "bug". Here's some more info:

Throw out the ones that have the holes and try to keep your humidor at the right temp and humidity.

The last page of the article suggest how you can save your stash.

Good luck...

That sounds you got a beetle problem. I beleive you should deep freeze all your cigars that have not been affected. Search "Beetles" in the forums and there are plenty of threads regarding beetles.

Sorry to hear about that, bondgirl. That's a trouble. Indeed, if you make search, you'll find a lot of advice, the main thing being deep freeze all the cigars for a week, then gradually bring back to normal temp. Good luck.

Yup, you got the beetle. Toss out the sticks that have the holes in them. As for the cigars that don't, put them in ziploc baggies and squeeze out as much air as you can. Freeze them for 3 days minimum. After that, move them to the fridge for 24 hours to bring the temp up slowly (otherwise they may split).

While the cigars are "chilling out" (okay, it was a bad joke), completely wipe out your humidor and reseason it. If you don't have one, get a digital hygrometer / thermometer from a local B&M or online. Beetle larvae only hatch when the temp inside the humi rises above 75 degrees. Keep them under that temp and you should be fine. Easiest way to do that is to keep it out of sunlight and away from any heat source.

Ever seen beetles eat through the celo? I almost bought a Diamond Crown Maximus that had a perfect little hole on the underside of the cigar, and right through the celo as well.

Oh no! So sorry, bondgirl. Frown Isolate and freeze, as everyone has mentioned. Clean out your humidor thoroughly. Curse the damn beetles!

BTW, I'm scare to death of this...

Oh, my... I've seen many pics of cigars with the holes, but that Cohiba band... looks like someone fired a gun on it.

And yes, it has been mentioned many times here in forums that these little ***ers eat thru cello. Not that they like the cello taste; just making their way in or out.

bondgirl, do follow EVP's instructions. One thing though - I was told deep freeze time should be 5-7 days to make sure "total annihilation."

Is there any harm in smoking an affected cigar? I'd cry to have to toss a Cohiba out.
