I'm eagerly awaiting the time when I can get my hands on one of these, as I really enjoy other Oliva smokes. Does anyone know when these will available for purchase?
You can post a question and wait for people to speculate or you instead you could just go to the manuafcturer's website, which is usually a better place to get answers.
I figure if you call any of the stores listed and ask to place and order, they may be able to accommodate you over the phone. I know my dealer www.citytobacco.com will have them in the next week or two but they don't offer online ordering yet so you'd have to call on the phone to place an order.
It will be interesting to see if Oliva allows these to be sold over the internet...sometimes, mfrs will hold back a hot product, at least for a period of time, to generate traffic to their B&M accounts. This is an exciting cigar, no question, and one that Oliva probably isn't in any hurry to allow deep discounts on. With all that in mind, may as well call one of the stores they listed and see if they have them in stock yet -- a standard 10% box discount may be the best we get on these.
I was at an Oliva Serie V launch event two weeks ago. The sales rep said the cigars will be available at the shops who hosted the event. Look at the event listing on the website. I'm sure you can contact any of them and inquire. My advice is go for it. The Serie V is a great cigar and the price point ($6 to $8) is even better.

Got my hands on a robusto size. Hopefully I'll have time to smoke it tonight and report back tomorrow. Looks great in the cello and the band is beautiful.
Smoked the 5x54 robusto last night. The sample I smoked was probably sitting in the Oliva rep's trunk for two weeks but it wasn't damaged at all and seemed properly humidified. I let it rest overnight in my cigar locker.
The cigar had a beautiful, understated band worthy of Davidoff, VSG, etc. The wrapper was smooth and oily with just a teeny bit of tooth and a single, small vein. Construction was about flawless -- the cigar was chunky, heavy and perfetly rounded.
Burn and draw were excellent. It lit up easily and gave hints of cocoa, earth and black pepper. It didn't have the sweetness that some of the other Olivas exhibit.
The pepper and earth intensified as the cigar burned down and it never got harsh, but it also never got really interesting either.
This is obviously a blend designed to cater to the 'strength' crowd and it teeters on the edge of being more powerful than flavorful. Maybe some box age will temper that.
I enjoyed it but didn't love it; another guy who smoked it at the same time didn't like it at all -- he felt the balance was tilted too much toward power.
For the price, I'll smoke it again but there are other cigars in the Oliva line that offer more flavor and complexity.
However -- anyone who like Litto Gomez Diez and Joya de Nicaragua should love these.

Yes, my favorite store and they do take phone orders. They're working on a website for e-commerce but for now, you can just call and ask for Phil, Dino or Luke. All very nice guys.
The thing I like about CT is their selection is centered on cigars for people who are 'in the know' so to speak. For instance, you'll find a couple sizes of Macanudo and a few sizes of Upmann but you'll find ALL sizes of La Flor Ligero or ALL sizes of Padilla 1932.
The Serie V should be in stock there right after RTDA.
I went to the event today in Georgia. I had a cigar, smoked it, loved it, met Jose Oliva, then bought a few more to take home.
It was very well balanced, that was what stuck out to me. The price is great. I smoked the robusto. Bought 3 more and a torpedo for later. I feel like it wasn't quite as strong as I was expecting. It was not as strong as a JDN or a La Flor, but had great tasting Nicaraguan tobacco.
It is definitely worth a try. If you find it isn't for you, then at least you didn't lose too much. They were selling the robusto for 5.99, torpedo for 6.99, a 6x60 for 6.99, and a churchill extra for 7.50.
I just like cigars, is that ok?

I was there as well. The cigar Jose gave me was very good. It was a smooth, full bodied cigar. The quality of the construction and tobacco was excellent. It was a pleasure to smoke it. I bought a few Toros to smoke later on. If you have a chance to buy a couple of sticks, go for it.
