Just come back from being on holiday in the DR. Visited the La Aurora cigar factory, well a working demonstration house with about 20 people making cigars in there rolling preferidos.

I'm relatively new to cigars having only smoked cigars for about a year now, and have only smoked Cubans.

Anyway, I bought some cigars from the cigar shop in the factory and ended up buying a box of petit belicoso and a box of cien anos robusto. I was quite surprised that the petit belicoso were pretty cheap.

Has anyone smoked the normal La Aurora line of cigars as they all seem pretty cheap. Also anyone smoked the cien anos robusto I was under the impression that the cien anos line was going to be limited run but looking at the bands the numbers are past 440,000.

Cien Anos is limited...and as iberiaman said this is the last year of production cuz the aged tobacco is running out. Overall the La Auroras are a good line. I'll be down at the factory next week and will have more information.

All of the cigars from Miami Cigar Co. are first quality and very enjoyable. They are a first Class Co. and they always stand behind their product.

You're not allowed to visit the factories as they are in the free trade/duty free zone and are only for export. La Aurora have a large house in Santiago which is a mock up factory with about 20 people in there making preferidos, obviously the real factory has about 300+ people rolling cigars.

I was in Puerto Plata so it wasnt too far for me about 40 mins. From Punto Cana I would guess its closer to 3 hours.

Most of the factories are in Santiago except for the Altaldis factory out by La Romana ( I think that is near punta cana). The factories are in the free trade zones except for La Aurora ( it pre existed the free trade zone)

La Aurora is looking to move because they sold off their cigarette division and do not need as much space as they now have. Not sure what they will do with the replica of the original factory which is open to the public.

In puntacana there is a cigar factory & two more in close by towns. If I remember correctly they are the factories for Romana, Domenico (in Puntacana) and Don Lucas.

La Aurora is the only factory not located in a free trade zone.
