Given my recent beetle incident, I'm more pro-cello than ever. If you do get that coolerdor filled up Stoge, you'll eventually give up on removing all of the cello. especially when you chip some wrappers condensing all the partial boxes in your cooler into one box. I have even found that some cigars develop crytals FASTER with cello on. In particular I have seen it with HDM's and La Unica Cameroons. Must be the cameroon wrapper.

On the plus side, I heard ALL of Stogies Cubans come with cello.

Yea, and example was after the big smoke i came home with a bunch of singles.
about 50, and i just used the boxes that i had in my coolerdor to house these, so i def leave the cello on.

Sometimes i do remove them when i move them to my glasss top Humidor.

I guess if you don't have a glass top desk humi it doesn't matter. I'd hate to look at my little buddies all wrapped up in cello, though. Out of site, out of mind.

They age tremendously well at the Cigar Shop with the Cello on. If I had a coolerdor, I'd max out my credit card in a week Cool

Peace.

I just ordered a Digital Hygrometer and some of those clearcrystal jars today with a couple of boxes of smokes. I'm gonna set it up on my coming days off. One Question Binder, do you leave your boxes cracked open or do you just leave them closed?? Im still gonna leave the cello off, though.

I love my cooler!

I just put them in boxes and stack the closed boxes in the cooler. I've had it for maybe 6 months and it holds at 65% better than my 2 desk tops. It's because of those beads. They are so great!

Stogie-Whatever happened to the project??? I have been waiting for the info so I could convert my southern doublewide into a premium doublewide. Big Grin Really hoping to find out how your prject went to see if I would jump on the wagon. I know I will have a couple of bucks coming my way for the holidays and may may spen it on a box or two of cigars that may be in of need of a home to age. Confused

I didn't bother to line mine with cedar. I just fill it with cigar boxes.

I don't think its moved from 65 in the 6 months I've had it. Those beads are amazing.

Seahawk...I'm going to age 2-3 boxes, I can figure out how big a cooler I need, but not sure on the beads. one jar should do right? where do I get these?

bargain humidores.com or you can get a jar or two from Cigarking or Phatash of the same thing just labeled under a different name. A 50 Qt would be plenty enuff.

I use to leave the boxes propped open a crack...until a mountain of cigars fell over and I had sticks all over the place. Now I leave it shut, the boxes breathe enough being wood.

One tip, I don't put anything right up against the plastic of the cooler. I leave a 1/4" breathing space between the walls and bottom. Use cedar blocks. This lets things circulate and if you do get a spike in humidity it will prevent any mold or mildew from forming.

I'm a big fan of leaving cello on to protect the cigars especially in a coolerdor as you won't be in there every day and since my beetle problem, to slow down any possible infestations. Plus when you start getting hundreds of cigars, taking the cello off is a real pain. The other added bonus is that the cello will yellow nicely, so you have some visual indicator of age.

Stogie-How big a cooler did you settle on and how many boxes do you think you will be able to store??

Stogie, remember to let the thing get to 70% before sticking cigars in it. Also the first few days, open it daily and check it. Because they are plastic and don't absorb excess humidity, coolerdors are more susceptible to over humidifying, especially when you first start them up or refill the elements. They return to normal after a while, but when I started out I got some mildew spots. Opening the door every once and a while when first starting out to check it and the aforementioned spacing things apart and off the walls helps.
