All- any info would be appreciated. I've been a passive - if you will - cigar smoker for several years, now I'm really into enjoying them more often with a good glass of wine or scotch. Have generally done just fine w/Padrons 3000-6000, but am looking for some "favorite sticks" from all of you pros. If you have a minute, can you list your personal favorite that is, say, under $10/stick? I'll be taking my notes and will broaden my horizons on my next shopping spree. thanks.

Try any of the Fuente Hemingway Series (the Work of Art Maduro is my favorite).

Opie--the key is to experiment, keep notes on what you like, and give each cigar a second chance. Sometimes you get a bad stick, and that doesn't mean the brand is bad. Shop around--you don't have to pay big money for good cigars. And, by the way, welcome!

I agree with Don Charles. If you really want to push the envelope try a Maria Mancini Robusto Larga (maduro is my favorite). They are 2.50 a stick yet they are satisfying

Opie:

I just tried the Torano Exodus at a cigar night and really liked the maduro taste.

The Helix is an inexpensive consistient quality stick, under $5 each.

I know it has received some bad reviews here but I like the Partagas Black Lable and the Onyx Reserve.

Arturo Fuente Curly Head is a good economy stick. I smoke them because I sometimes have to chuck them at work to go out in the field.

Enjoy and don't hesitate to try different wnes and liquors with them. Good smikes, good drinks and good conversation go together.

Another very good fuente is the 8-5-8 in Maduro. Rocky Patel 92 vintage smaller sizes are under $10 and very good too. If you want a stronger smoke the Trinidad TTT maduros is excellent as well.

These are what I've been smoking the most of lately.

Warm Texas evening, comfy chair on the deck, 3 fingers of bourbon, dog at my feet, and a good cigar. It doesn't get any better!

Aunt Bea would have a cow if she had read this. Cigar smoking puts you at risk for mouth and throat cancer. This is what happens when your dad smokes cigarettes in front of you. Quit now and go back to Mayberry !!!

You are obviously a cigar man. My humble recommendations (based on my personal tastes) are :

Partagas Black Label (Robusto)
Camacho Corojo (Diploma)
Fuente Flor Fina

Currently sampling the Mayorga High Octane Robusto. All are under $10.

Opie- try a few of my favorites, great flavor and easy on the wallet!

- Punch Gran Puro (100% Honduran) smooth/med body.
- Indian Tabac maduro (made by Rocky Patel), another med to full, very inexpensive
- can't go wrong with Fuente hemmingway Short Story, excellent "short on time" smoke.
- If you like Padron's, you'll love the Camacho Monarca maduro!!

Good luck and happy smoking,
Marc

Hola, first post here. Wow Earl The Pearl, we have very similar tastes, just had a Punch Gran Puro (excellent) Have had plenty Fuente Short Stories, but i just recently tried the Punch Champion, and not sure why, it was one of the best smokes i've ever had. Whats anyone elses opinion of the Champion?

Try these for under $10 but great on taste (I agree with much of the above replies but have tried not to repeat):

RP Edge
Mayorga Maduro
Sancho Panza DM or EF
ERDM
HDM Ex 1066
CAO Maduro

(See a pattern here? I love maduros!)

For around $10.25 a stick, the Carlos Torano Tribute 2004's are an absolutely delicious smoke. I bought 10 from my local B&M and he knocked 25% off, thus putting these in your under $10 requirement.

Hope this helps.
