My sister is getting married this month and she has asked me if I could bring a couple boxes of cigars to the wedding reception. Can anyone please suggest me some moderately priced brands that newbies could enjoy as well as veterans? Anything from JR's perhaps? I would prefer not to spend more than $50 per box. Thank you.

Try a search on this topic. many a thread has discussed this situation or something like it.

Flor de Olivas (regular line) are nice, not too strong and cheap. You could try the Golds as a VERY mild safe cigar. you don't want anything with more than a medium body or you'll have non-experienced smokers puking all over the dancefloor (which would be kinda funny actually).

$50 for a box of good smokes won't be easy but you could find some decent ones in bundles. Look for bundles of La Unica or Cusano P1, they're not bad but neither will be very complex in flavor. If you spring a little more you could get a box of Sancho Panza's. my fav is the double maduro churchill but anything from them is a good smoke. expect to spend $60-80 depending on size (for a box of course). as a college student on a budget, the sancho panzas have served me very well, great thick draw, just watch out when you clip them, the caps are esp fragile. truly one of my favs.

I second the Flor de Oliva's.......all newbies I have given them to like them as well as some vets.....most everyone here will agree that this is a good smoke for the money.......It's been a while since I purchased a bundle but I believe you can get a bundle for around $40...... Wink

I'd go with Idesign on the CAO Golds. They're mild and that's a price that sounds like is in the range of what you'd be willing to spend.

Thanks everybody, I'll probably get a Flor De Oliva Maduro ("cause I like these) and a CAO Gold.

I'll also throw my hat in for the Flor de Oliva. An excellent smoke for the price.

Madam... if you were my wife, I would drink it!

Windsor,
gotta love the sir winston quotes!

to precede it...

"Sir Winston! You're drunk!"
"Madame, I may be drunk, but in the morning I will be sober, and you will stil be ugly"
"If I were your wife I would poison your drink!"
....

(if the quotes aren't perfect, my apologies, it was off the cuff)

Also might want to look at Mayaorgas.

Can't go wrong with Olivas though.
