The natural CAO Gold cigar is a guilty pleasure of mine.

My non-Cuban tastes tend to bend towards med-full flavored cigars (ex. Padron, Trinidad, a few Sungrown, most anything DPG has his hands in).

This isn't to say I don't like AF Hemingways or mellower cigars. My humi has everything from Hemingway's to a RP or two to Punch's to Tatuaje's. But there's just something about the CAO Gold that makes me keep coming back.

When it comes to CAO, there's not many I'll smoke. Though I'm not a big fan of the Brazilia, the Lx2 is a nice smoke. The Mx2 is another smoke they make that I'll smoke here and there. However the CAO Gold holds a special place in my heart.

I've recently seen some info on a "CAO Gold Vintage" line. Has anyone had experience with this cigar yet? I've never seen it advertised or for sale, but then again I haven't really looked for too long.

Does anyone have some feedback or can point me in the right direction? CAO haters need not reply Smile

I smoked a sample, it was something like a 6x50 toro. I think -- but don't hold me to this -- that what distinguishes it from the standard line is solely the wrapper, which is from a vintage crop in the early 2000s.

I wouldn't say there was a world of difference from what I remember of the regular Gold line. Maybe a little smoother on the front end, whereas the regular Gold seemed to start off a little rough and then quickly settle down. I don't know what the price premium will be.

I don't know why the Gold would be a guilty pleasure. It was one of the first 'mild' cigars I can remember that had a little more body and complexity than the competition. I have a few boxes of the 10th Anniversary perfectos and pull one out from time to time. I like them for a change of pace.

Meh, a few of my friends think of them as a wuss smoke for some reason. They're very....opinionated when it comes to cigars. If it's not Cuban or expensive, it's garbage.

One hordes Montecristo's because of the brand recognition and doesn't even really like them.

"Cigar snobs" would be a better description XD
I think we've all run into a few of them.

Thank you for the info though Big Grin

EH, Ignore that....not all expensive cigars are good. I have smoked a 5 dollar cigar that was better in my opinion that a 13 dollar cigar.

I always like the CAO Gold for a mild smoke...I still want to try the CAO Gold Maduro...It looks tasty!

On occasion, I like both the regular CAO Gold line as well as the CAO Gold Maduro. The maduro isn't as good (in my opinion). The one size that is really great in both regular Gold and the Maduro Gold is the "Perfecto".

Although these are mild-medium (more medium really), they are still good cigars. Sometimes I like a medium cigar and other times a more full bodied one (and occasionally something that is a challenge to get through, meaning very strong). <g>

I'm not fond of the Gold Maduro's either. They just seem rather bland to me.

The Mx2 has a nice flavor. I prefer the Robusto but the Gordo is a treat if you're playing 18 or have a few hours to kill.

I heard about an Mx3 but haven't read or seen them.

The CAO Gold Vintage is slightly, SLIGHTLY different than the regular lines. Not a bad morning smoke.
