Smoked the 4/2g tonight. I was waiting until I tried this one before I ordered my box. This one was the mildest one of all that I had smoked. Beautiful cigar, great draw, lots of smoke, but a little mild for my taste. I ordered a box of 88's. This was by far the most like a cubano to me.
Just finished an f9 that my Godfather brought from US. The 1st third was a little weak in flavors, but boy, did it open up after that! Enjoyed it thoroughly to the nub, though on my book f9 scored slightly lower than 4/2g. 888 and cg:4 waiting their turn in my humi...
Don't know why lots of people, including previous poster SmoknAviator liken it to CCs. IMO they have quite different profile and are awesome on their own.

My pallet is perhaps a little bit less used to the CC than yours, but I try to pick up a premium stick or two when I travel outside the states. For the money, the Illusione is the closest thing that I have had to a CC. If you want to send me a bunch of CC's for taste comparison, I would gladly let you know if my opinion changes.

Hehe, maybe if I travel to the States, I could bring some so we meet up, smoke together and try to convince each other I still think Illusiones (at least the ones I smoked so far) have only one thing common with CC - enjoyability!

Excellent Non Cuban cigar. I've been smoking cigars for 21 years, all Cubans for the last 11. Lately I have tried a few Non Cubans. This is the second best non Cuban cigar out there. If there were no Cubans, these are what I'd smoke.
I burnt a cg:4 today; so glad i did. On start, it fired a load of peppery spice, then mellowed out giving away leather background, sweetness, some cedar and chocolate overtones. I should also mention the cold draw - very unusual taste, which feels familiar but can't define what is it. I almost want to say rubber, but that's very inaccurate description, because I don't find the smell of rubber too pleasant, while this wasn't unpleasant at all to me.
Anyway, a complex and wonderful cigar. I still insist it's nothing like CCs - its flavors are great in a different way, IMHO.

I'm in agreement. I don't think they taste anything like CC's. These ciars to me best represent the profile of Nicaragua - except for the "rubber" part! The cold smoke usually gives me hints of the natural tannins and salt components from the soil. Thanks for the nice words.
No, Dion - THANK YOU for creating these marvelous cigars, and keep it up!
I wish they were available in my country, but luckily I travel to US time to time and some of my friends too, who I can ask to bring back some.
As for the "rubber" part - I just don't have another word that comes close to describe that smell/flavor. It is unique. Maybe it's tannic, I don't know.

Yesterday night's 888 had mostly the same great flavors, but much weaker. And was the first one to have at times a very remote similarity to cuban tobacco flavor profile. Still quite different. It appears strange to me that this vitola produced less intense flavors. So far 888 scores lowest on my book among its brothers, but still is a very good stick. I've got to get my hands on other vitolas that I haven't tried yet.

I've only tried the 888 and loved it...if that is the weakest of the bunch I can't wait to try the others...having a hard time finding them...none of the online shops I use carry them...any help appreciated.

www.newhavanacigars.com. Great selection, customer service, and shipping. I've ordered from them twice.
You know for so long when I saw Illusion's on this board I kept thinking that people were referring to VSG Illusions haha. Now that I've realized this is not what they are I think I'll have to get a sampler.
