I used to drink this beer regularly when in NJ because it was easy to find. Now that I live in Arkansas I find that I can never find this beer. I love this light tasting beer. I guess I'll have to move back to NJ so I can enjoy more Sapporo and find out what cigar matches it best. Big Grin

Sapporo is a wonderful beer w/sushi or japanese/chinese food. I always get it when me and the wife are dining out at these's type of places. Nice light beer. I have trouble drinking just one or two of them... tasty

sapporo is decent. I too drink it when im out for sushi and dont feel like sake. If you can find the 500ml cans of it buy one. The can looks awsome, actualy it looks like a tapered pint glass but all aluminium.

I drank gallons of it when I was stationed in Okinawa in the 70s with the USAF.
I really loved being able to buy a can at a street-side vending machine just like we can buy soda here in the USA.

Yeah, great stuff! That famous light character in Japanese beer is from the addition of rice into the brew. I also enjoyed Kirin when I was in Japan. I tried Asahi once and wasn't impressed.

I'm a huge fan of Sapporo, though I can't say that I've ever tried pairing it with a smoke. I'd imagine something light, maybe a bit creamy would work well (not the most upper-class stick, but maybe a Cusano 18?).

That being said, I usually try to enjoy a "couple" of Sapporo's (especially in the faceted silver can) when I go out for vegetarian sushi or a plate of good stir-fry and tempura!

Thanks Petraud. I've found a few Chinese restaurants that also serve this.

Don't want to pee on your parade but, to me, Sapporo is a weak, insipid and uninteresting beer -- though, perhaps, a bit better then most commercial American beers. But I will give you the can is cool. Drinkable, but not enjoyable. Maybe it's just me...

I respect your tastes and if you like it, the more whatever to you, but I would classify it in the knat's urine category...
