My question is around the Sandals expereince in general - did you enjoy it - would you do it again - waste of money - etc?

Although it was many yrs ago I have done 2 Sandals....Negril and Dunn's River. Loved them both. Would I do it again..?.. yes I did. And hope to goto one in St. Lucia next. But the wife is really starting to push going to the south Pacific next time and Sandals are not out there.

In general I did find it to be very relaxing and one of the few holidays I've been on where I did not need another vacition (too rest) after it was done. A waste of money...no at all. You don't need much more then the initial cost. A hint though would be make sure you get off the resort grounds (which will raise the cost some). The rest of the island is nothing at all like the resort and you would be missing a lot if you spent all your time on the hotel grounds.

And enjoy the rum!
ohh I almost forgot.......bring your own cigars!!

My wife and I went to Sandals St Lucia in March of 1995. It was also called Sandals La Toc. The other one on St Lucia, Sandals Halcyon, had just opened. We went to check out Halcyon one evening for dinner. Our opinion was that La Toc was much nicer overall than Halcyon. I haven't kept up with what is on the island now, but the trip was very enjoyable. Snorkling on the southwest side of the island near Anse Chastenet was great (no need to scuba with the quality of the few snorkle reefs I saw).
There were lots of young honeymooners there, but also some older folks like us.
We went to a street party (on Friday?) in the northern town of Gros Islet that was okay... just be careful of the few locals who dislike travelers. The trip to St Lucia was definitely worth it, and Sandals is fun and easy to do at least once. Have fun.
