.....Don't know, but the remains of a lot of makeshift sailing vessels wash up on our beaches from folks sailing FROM Cuba...

(My favorite was a waterproofed '57 Chevy with steel drum floats.....it actually made it....until the Coast Guard got them.)

When I retire from my current job, I plan on going to Cuba. Sailing with somebody would be a cool way of getting there.

Just be prepared to have your ship seized upon your return.

I know of someone who made it with a buddy (Florida to Havana) on a 16' skiff...now THAT'S what I call sailing. There is also this Australian swimmer, Susie Maroney, who swam the 110 some odd miles to Key West from Havana. She tried to swim within the confines of a cage mounted to a ship in order to guard her from sharks and stings of Portugese Man of War, but seas were so rough, she was getting beaten up from the apparatus and swam outside despite the risk and danger.

So - you ready? Last one in the water is a gusano!
