I really love beer. I drink it pretty much daily. I even have a kegerator in my cigar bar. The last couple years I have been trying every beer I can. My favorites are as follows in no particular order:

Hoegaarden
Chimay Red Label
Stella Artois
Pilsner Urquel
Arrogant Bastard
Great Lakes Brewing Company Holy Moses
Great Lakes Brewing Company Dortmunder Gold
Siera Nevada Pale Ale

Never been myself, but I associate with some beer-geeks quite often and they say it is unbeliveable, a real beer heaven...

No, it's usually pretty hard for me to try to find a place that even carries arrogant bastard ale around here (i'm in Michigan) unless it's a specialty store or german restaurant...i'm going to have to look into Ruination tho!

Man, I'll be there for sure! Especially since I'm on vacation at that time.

I love tasting all kinds of different microbrewery and/or imported beers and, luckily, Montreal is a good place to get them year round... But when it's the festival, it's brewsky Shangri-La!

Security has instructions to shoot on the spot anybody that walks into the Festival area with a Molson beer or logo. Wink

Honestly, this is no lie...Some friends of mine told me last night they met this canadian guy and talked about beer, had a couple with him. Now this guy says he will send my buddies premium CC's in exchange for some thunderbird and maddog 20/20...if you don't know what that is, they're nasty malt-liquor and ripple type wines...bottom of the barrel...he says he can't get them in canada... Big Grin I almost don't believe it...

Ahh, Mad Dog and Sisco! There are somethings you'd much rather forget about your early drinking days! In any case, I'm looking forward to the Unib new stout. I hear it's wonderful.

Where in Canada did he come from? I must admit we don't get many micro US beers, but we have about 200 of them in Quebec and get most of the stuff from Belgium.

Have you tried Unibroue's "17" ? Really nice, Chimay Blue Label style.

three words...arrogant bastard ale...I LOVE THIS BEER!! but i am all about flavorful beers...not the fruity flavors, but flavor in general, hops, wheat, barley, etc...

I will second that. I love arrogant bastard ale. It is great. I totally for got to mention it. Good call.

It's been a long time since I had one of these, always loved it though. And the Bastard Ale is what drew me to the Stone Brews. They also make an Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale that is superb IMO. It's brewed with oak chips to give it a nice dry mouth feel with a nice wooded flavor. It's not cheap though...they sell it for 17 bucks a six pack at my local beer store.

I would love to give it a try.

Sorry Hawg, missed this post. I love home brewing. It is a lot of fun and there are so many different levels you can get into depending on how involved you want to get and what sort of income you have to work with. When I first started 10 years ago I used very simple ingrediants with very simple materials (like food grade platic buckets for fermentation).

I have a lot more income now than I did then, so my equipment is much nicer and I am doing much more complex brews. Which hopfully will be better brews as well. I'm using a stainless steel conical fermenter now which can be used not just for primary but secondary fermentation as well. I'm also kegging my beer this time around rather than using cleaned out old beer bottles.

I'd encourge anyone with an interest to give it a whirl. You can buy beginner starter kits that has everything you need to get brewing for under a 100 bucks. The typical home brew batch is five gallons, which is about two cases of beer. And like I said, depending on how involved you want to get, it will cost about 20 to 40 bucks a batch for some really good beer that you made yourself. Very satisfying if you ask me. Smile

Innis & Gunn is absolutely amazing. Scottish oak-aged beer. Pretty expensive (about $3 each here in Ontario) but they're totally worth it.
