I am new to this forum and this is my first posting. I am searching for cigar clubs or groups that hold events or just get together to smoke in the Northern Virginia or Washington, DC area. I used to belong to a private club at a small store in Sterling, VA that has since closed. I miss the place dearly. If anyone out there knows of private clubs, groups, etc that get together to smoke or just hang out in a certain store, I would be very interested in hearing about them.

I am in McLean (and work downtown); don't know of any groups, but please post anything information. I suppose we can always start one up.

Unfortunately, I am not having much luck finding info on cigar events in the area. I live in Mclean as well and would be glad to help start up a new smoking group. It would be nice if there was a store or a club that we could use as a "home base." Any ideas?

Are you talking about the cigar store that used to be across from Lowes Island? I used to go there often.
I know that the Cigar store in Leesburg which is in Old Town off 7 (not the one by Tuscarora) has a private upstairs club. Well at least the did about a year back.
Also, the Cigar store in Ashburn, by the Harris Teeter, often has various Reps in the store.

If you want to start something I would be interested as well. Mortons in Tyson's is Ceegar friendly, as is Champs in Reston.

Anyone ever go to The Globe and Laurel in Triangle VA? I was there a few years ago and I believe they had a cigar section.

Yes! That was the place - across from Lowes Island. It was great to have a place where folks could get away and spend a little time with a cigar and favorite drink. Now that I have moved from Sterling to Mclean, I find there are no nice shops nearby. I am not familliar with the place in Leesburg or Triangle. However, I do enjoy J. Gilberts or Mortons in Mclean for a smoke every now and then. There is one shop in downtown Mclean, called P.G. Cigar Boutique but I dont find it a very nice shop.

Perhaps I will call J. Gilberts and Mortons and see if they ever have any cigar groups meeting at their place.

J Gilberts, the Tavern in Great Falls, and Fiore di Lune, also in Great Falls, still have cigar friendly bars; I think Morton's in TYsons and Reston also. I like Shelly's Backroom in DC, which is the last of the cigar-friendly restaurants downtown, I think. The cigar store in McLean (sort of around back from Starbucks) is ok--can't recall their name off-hand. Bill

I stopped by that Cigar store in Old Town Leesburg tonight and found they were going out of biz! They had some excellent deals on the remaining cigars, but also some killer deals on cutters, ashtrays, funrinture, humidors etc etc. I guess they are out for a meeting place!

Sounds like I need to make a trip out to Leesburg soon. However, I am sorry to hear of another cigar shop going out of business.

I have started a Northern Virginia Cigar Enthusiasts Meetup Group on Meetup.com. Check out the website and sign up to be a member. Hopefully it will grow into a decent sized group with at least monthly meetings.

Fred is right, we had a great time at J. Gilberts! The membership of the Northern Virginia Cigar Enthusiasts Group is still growing! I look forward to smoking cigars with this great core group of members and I hope we can welcome some new members to the group this time as well. As Fred said, check out "Northern Virginia Cigar Enthusiasts Group" on Meetup.Com, sign up and join us at Mortons Steakhouse in Tyson's Corner on April 18th.

I find the park behind the Dolly Madison Library is the perfect size to exercise the dogs and smoke a Churchill-size stick...
