Most times just the usual ingredients.

Vodka, Tomato Juice, Horse Radish, Worstershire, and S & P.......

If on hand I'll toss in a couple of Green Olives to turn my Bloody Mary into a Bloody Charlie.

The Olives are symbolic.......... Wink

Hey, Charloods, I like Bloody Marys too. But at home I just use tomato juice and vodka, sometimes a little Worchester or Tabasco. The other day I bought some Bloody Mary mix with clam juice in it, haven't tried it yet.

A little Old Bay never hurts. Fresh lemon or lime. Out with the celery and in with a cucumber. Tomolives, if you have 'em.
Best when lounging in front of a 1pm football game, or when she's hanging around on a saturday morning.

My wife makes the Bloody Mary's in our household. I used to really like her using Stoli Pepper Vodka but it was discontinued in the states from what I understand, anyway it is no longer available in our state, so I use a local product made in Bend, Or. called Mazama Pepper Infused Vodka, it is a nice alternative to the Stoli. I like my BM's spicy so smoke comes out of your ears when you drink it......therefore....

The ingredients:

She uses Red-Eye Habanero BM mix, and a few dashes of Demetries Chiles and Pepper BM seasoning. She rubs the rim of the glass with a lime wedge and salts the rim, then drops the lime wedge in the drink consisting of 1 1/2 oz of vodka and 3 or 4 oz of mix. She will skewer three Jalapeno stuffed olives as a side dish along with a couple of spiced green beans and a couple of spiced asparagus spears. It almost a meal in a drink. Anyway I take that drink outside to my tent on the deck, turn on the TV take the Sunday paper and usually a CC and have an enjoyable hour or two...followed by freshly roasted coffee....maybe watch football or whatever is in season .....this endeavor is highly recommended!! Big Grin

DC, of the many flavored Stoli's, I didn't know they ever had a Pepper, unless it's never been available in my area. I wish that Mazama brand was available to me. The only pepper vodka I can get is Absolut, and I'm not a big fan of that brand.

Your recipe sounds great, but aren't the two of you forgetting the extra horse radish? Even if it's already in the BM mix?

Paco....Stoli Pepper was my favorite for making Bloody mary's and it was around for at least 15 years in this part of the country. It had 5 different peppers in its ingrdients, at one time there were only two flavors in the premium brands locally, and they were Stoli Pepper and Stoli Limonnaya, the others came later. The bastards broke my heart when they discontinued it...I bought a case when I learned it was going, and slowly but surely....it disappeared. Frown
I am not a fan of horseradish so I don't usually add it to my drink, although Red-Eye does have a horseradish mix that is quite good. Say paco where do you hail from?

15 years? Damn!
Either I didn't pay much attention to flavored vodkas until recently, or Stoli never let it into the market here... in New England. Boston's North End, specifically.
Good thinking on buying that case, btw.

I was at a local fancy restaurant and they put a large shrimp on the top of it. Being allergic to shrimp, I sent it back but I've never seen that variety. Anyone found a commercial bottled mix worth buying or are they all a waste of money?

taste is subjective to be sure puff, but I am a fan of Red-Eye and several others, one which is made locally in small batches called Lyle Style out of Lyle, Washington, the reason being is that they are both thick and have a nice spice to them. Maybe some of the Texas boys can fill you in on Red Eye since it is made in Bryan, Texas.
At the end of the day its what you as an individual like that puts a finality to it I guess!

Yes, better restaurants will create ways to up the price on menu items and put a shrimp in a BM. Not a bad touch, of course pending alergies. Like DC said, some times it's a mini meal in a glass.
I agree that Red Eye is really good. Believe it or not, Mr. & Mrs Ts Signature Blend is good too. But never have any of them straight out of the bottle. Always customize!

I've been using a clamato-type mix, thoroughly enjoying it.
