Who else has tried this scotch? I just turned 21 in November and I am still dabbling in the world of fine spirits, but seeing as I live in Kentucky about an hour from distilleries like Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, and Makers Mark, it is relatively easy to get a good bottle of bourbon at a very nice price. But I found a bottle of Dalmore Cigar Malt and was intrigued. I have not had much scotch, only Johnny Red and Black and loved them, so I decided to try it and I am very impressed. I have tried 3 cigars with it, a RP Edge Maduro, a Camancho Corojo and a Cohiba, and all of them were complimented by the scotch very well.
I usualy have a bottle on my optics. It is a great whisky with a rich, heavy dense flavour. MacAllan is a very popular nip and DCM is in the same style but heavier than the standard MacAllan. You are lucky at such a young age to have come across such a quality tipple that is not too expensive . It retails for about £30 in Scotland. I believe it is an important and even essential bottle every spirit loving cigar smoker should have in his or her bar.
a good malt indeed...however, to me it tasted like it was trying to be a rum...in which case i'll take the orginal. but they did accomplish the goal of creating a great pairing for a cigar.
if you are a bourbon fan i can see why you'd like this scotch, it has some of the sweetness of a bourbon.
Fine spirits is a great place to be, sure they can be expensive but there are many many wonderufl bottles for under $70, which may sound expensive, but they last a long time. but cheaper bottles are still out there the $40 range is packed with a lot of great 12yrs.

My wife bought me a bottle last year for my birthday...quickly became my absolute favorite!
First I was fascinated by the name "cigar malt"...had to be good right? I really think it lives up to the name. A heavy scotch, but never overpowering.
I like the standard dalmore a lot better, the Cigar malt just seams to sweet for me , like Sugar , if it was more like carmel, toffee or butterscotch I might like it better, but to me just to much plain white sugar taste . Enjoy, Vince

The Doc's Lagavulin is my favorite single malt. However it has become hard to find and fairly expensive. My alternative cheaper and easier to find is :LAPHROAIG.
while I like the Dalmore Cigar Malt WITH a cigar (it's quite a good pairing, and I understand that it actually won some sort of taste test paring with cigars - the story was here on CA a few years back), I find that I do not like it alone (i.e. w/o a cigar)!
Many many other single malts that I find far preferable: Laguvulin 16 (as mentioned already)and Highland Park 18, as well as Craggenmore, Abelour A'Bunadh (sp?) come to mind.
