Does anyone have any experience with the new travel restrictions with respect to carry on luggage? I have a Montecristo travel humidor that seals magnetically. I'm wondering if I can take that on my carry-on or if I have to check it in my luggage.

I don't see why you could not carry it on, at the least you will have to open the bag for inspection.

I know, Saxon, but I'm not so sure I want my Ramon Allones Regional Edicion Estupedos and my Punch Churchills and my San Cristobal El Morros inspected - if you know what I mean! Wink

The TSA is not interested in your cigars unless they are TUBOS, in which case they will ask you to open the tube and show the contents.

Doc,

Do you know if cigar cutters are okay or if they need checked? I have a double guillotine cutter.

Havana:

Check TSA.gov. I think some cuters are allowed.

As to the contents of the travel humidor I agree, TSA is not concerned with contents unless they are dangerous to travel.

I have carried on my Armored Humidor on 3-4 trips yearly for the past 5 0r 6 years and have never in that time opened it to show the contents, I have on occasion brought back tubos from cigar shows as well without a problem. It most likely depends on how the xecurity folks are feeling that day I presume.
As for cutters there is an inexpensive ceramic blade version that I have carried on that passed ok but the metal blades I always put in my checked luggage because they are still not acceptable as a carryon. That of course could change like Bic-type lighters have just this month.

According to the TSA website, cigar cutters are OK.

I would not take cutters on, or lighters, as they tried to take my new colibri lighter the last time I flew. My brother in law had to toss his cutter or miss his flight, as he didn't have time to argue with them.
