Hi guys,
I will be spending the summer in NYC and leaving through Newark airport on my way home to Ireland.

Does anyone know if there is any decent selection of cigars in Duty Free in the airport?

Any experiences/info would be greatly appreciated as I would wait until then to stock up at duty free prices!

Thanks

What cigars are you looking for?

New Jersey has a high tobacco tax, but Pennsilvania, just down the pike from NJ has a few cigar shops with very reasonable prices.

As for duty free I would have no idea since I am not allowed to buy Duty Free in the USA and I am not allowed to bring Cuban cigars back from outside the country.

i'm not looking for cubans, can get those at home.

non-cubans are hard to come by in ireland so i'd be looking to get some of those

not worried about the tax as i won't be paying it if i'm going duty free!

have never smoked a non-cuban so just read the cigar aficionado top 25 of each year and looking to get the cigars retailing at $6 or less

just wondering if anyone has passed through and what they saw was available?

Newark DF has Davidoff, Avo, Macanudo. No Padrons last I looked. They may have Ashton. It is not a wide selection. You can take a peek when you land. I think you are better off going to a regular shop if you are looking for something specific. There is a JR Cigars on State Highway Rt. 10 in Whippany. In NYC, there are many options (search this forum) to find cigars from a wide variety of producers.

I think your best bet would be to look at sites like

www.famous-smoke.com
www.jrcigars.com
www.holts.com

See what you might like and order cigars delivered to where you are staying.

Better cigars and much greater selection.

If you are looking for cigars like Opus X or Ashton VSG in any quantity you will not find them on-line unless you are willing to pay very inflated prices.

thanks for taking the time to help me out
with your replies guys

as prices in the states for non-cubans are vastly cheaper than cigar prices in ireland I won't quibble and will take your advice on getting things delivered to where i'm staying.

e.g. Griffin's prestige 4 pack in Dublin is 60 euro, roughly $94, whereas it retails on one of the sites listed by docbarry for $34.99!
can't wait to get to NY boys!

thanks for the links doc, i'm totally in the dark and they help a lot
