I have not seen this before on this site:

There are 2 excellent resturants in northern NJ where cigar and, ugh, cigarette smoking are not only permitted but welcomed.

Porter House in Montvale (Irish Pub with great beef)

Jamie's in Clifton (classic Italian & great service)

btw Ryland's is now closed.

kinda surprised, by this actually. Jersey had one of those fresh air laws or some such go through before we left & I didnt think they let anyone smoke indoors anymore.
I remember when you could smoke in only 2 places in the mall & then not at all

I'm going for a scuttle

Now, I don't know about the food but the menu looks pretty nice at The Smoke Chophouse in Englewood.

Chophouse in Englewood has a great steak and a nice wine list although it was more $ than I expected to pay outside of Manhattan. The last time I was there in December, I had a great time with some friends and cigars, right at the table. I'm not sure how they do it, but I don't care. Recommended for cigar and steak lovers.

I agree. It is a great place. It is pricey, but no more than any other upscale steak house. The food is great. Sometimes they have private events there which are really off the hook.

Smoke Chop House in Englewood is by far my favorite steak house. Food is great, wine is great and cigars are permitted. What is not to love.

Longtime viewer, first time poster.

Ashes in Red Bank is decent. You can smoke at the table, and the steak is actually very good. The bar area gets very New Jersey cheesy, but for a good filling of red meat and a quality cigar, this place does the job.

Azucar is in Jersey City and Edgewater actually. Wink

The one in Jersey city is a bigger, open air, kind of place, and a little more fancy.

The original one in Edgewater is what I would imagine a restaurant in Cuba to be like. It is basically a house with 3 floors and tables on each floor.

Both locations have areas for cigar smokers.

I think I'm going to have to try Azucar in JC, I've heard good things but also that it's a little pricey.

I liked the Chophouse, but it had a kind of dirty feel to me, very old and musty. Also, did anyone notice that all the ashtrays are for cigarettes? I couldn't find one that I could rest my cigar in properly. But it was rather interesting listening to some of the colorful mafioso deals going on around us. Who knows, maybe I just caught them on a bad night. Steak was phenomenal though.

Well Ashes in Red Bank has fallen a notch.

They have recently banned all cigar smoking at the tables and require you to go stand in the bar area. No more after dinner relaxing cigars at that place.

Apparently, this policy went into effect 2 weeks ago.
