Anybody else try this handcrafted scottish gin (there's an ad for it in the new CA). Tried it yesterday and found it quite unique with very intene, but complex, flavors. Makes a deadly gin tonic with a nice bite.

Yes, I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised by the addition of cucumber and rose petals. Also, non-industrial gins are pretty hard to find over here -- so curiosity killed this cat.

IMO, Hendrick's is okay if you like cucumbers, and want an occasional change of pace martini or gin-and-tonic.
That being said, like Paul, I much prefer Bombay Sapphire. Or more and more often, Tanquerey Rangpur (in which I substitute an ample dollop of fresh grapefruit juice for vermouth and garnish with a thin wedge of grapefruit).

I've become quite enamoured of Hendrick's recently. It's a very nice change of pace from Bombay Sapphire in my martinis, and it makes a better gin-n-tonic than either Bombay or Tanquerey, IMO.
I'll likely wind up with Hendrick's and Sapphire sitting side-by-side in the cabinet...

Well, probably not according to purists. But it's really, really good. I just hand-squeeze about 1/8 of a whole grapefruit (preferably ruby red) into the gin, but adjust that amount to suit your taste. Both gin and martini glass are kept in the freezer for the occasion.
