I am going to add Charlie's in Orland to my list. Was there back in March. Great steak, cooked as ordered with a side of Smoked bacon, gorgonzola and scallion mashed potatoes.

In Phoenix, the top three for me are (in no particular order):
- Flemings - Incredible Ribeye - Capitol Grill - You've got to try the Kona crusted dry-aged sirloin with shallot butter. - Ruth Chris - Don't touch the plate!!
I just returned from NYC and had an unbelievable steak at Wolfgangs. Hard for me to admit this, but it may be as good or better than Peter Luger....onion rolls and sauce were identical; sliced tomatoes were better; porterhouse for 2 was identical or better; german potatoes were better; creamed spinach was not quite as good. Had a couple of bottles of excellent Malbec to wash the meal down. Overall, great experience and would definitely go back again.

Ya gotta love Guastavino's sculpted and tiled vaulted ceilings at Wolfgang's on Park Ave. They are a piece of NYC history. It is a one-of-a kind space that you have to come to NYC for. You will not find it in any of the chain steakhouses. Good choice. Did you have a post-steak cigar?
This evening was part of a belated 50th Birthday celebration with my friends in New York. Stayed at the NYAC (what a steal--$180/room on Central Park South with access to very good gymnasium facilities and close proximity to mass transit and nearby great restaurants such as Tao, Sparks, San Pietro, and Quality Meats).
Evening started off with cocktails at 230 5th Avenue rooftop bar (thank you Cigar Aficionado for recommending this place in the past). Many great photos taken on the roof with the Empire State Building in the background. Festivities continued at the aformentioned nearby Wolfgangs. Dinner was followed by my obligatory visit to Club Macanudo where I enjoyed Cohiba Robustos that I brought with me from a recent LCDH TJ visit.
Greg, question re: Wolfgangs--someone mentioned the original facility was a converted private train station???

When it comes we steak we all know we should ask the Texan. So I will answer I mean what better do we know than beef?
JR's Steakhouse located right outside of Dallas about 10 minutes away from DFW airport. Has the most amazing crab-filled steak. If any of y'all are ever traveling to DFW and are looking for a great steakhouse look this one up.
Thanks and Gig'Em.

In NJ, Englewood, I like a place called Smoke Chophouse where cigars ARE allowed.
I actually passed the Smoke Chophouse with my fiance and future father-in-law this weekend. He mentioned that it allowed cigars and we agreed we wanted to try it one day. Good to hear you think highly of it!
Chophouse is one of my favorite restaurants in NJ. Place is classy yet non pretentious, and none of their food ever disappoints. I usually start with their delicious French onion soup, followed by a medium rare beef wellington, then end it with a pecan tart, coffee, & a special cigar.
Last week my cigar buddies took me there for my birthday and I tried their dry-aged porterhouse for 2. We all finished off our dinners with a siglo vi and a case of the 'itis.
Other faves:
Peter Luger's Morton's Quality Meats Old Homestead Arthur's Lomonaco's Porter House RoBSTaR's grilled kobe rib-eyes with a side of rotisserie'd crispy-skin suckling pig and a lobe of foie gras. *hint*hint*

I will also add Pappa Bros. Steak House here in Dallas. I have been to Bob's, Ruth Chris, etc. and Pappa's dominates them all...
Been to the Pappas Bros. in Houston. Nice steaks and I managed to get there right before the smoking ban, so I had a post-meal cigar right in the bar. The decor of the restaurant is a bit geriatric, but the steak good and it was a fun night. Is the Houston location the original?
My favorite steak place is a little different than most. Rube's steakhouse which has only two locations; one in Montour the other in Waukee, both in Iowa. They have their own cattle farm and process their own meat. The portions are just ridiculous. It's also a grill your own joint so you're the only one to blame if it's not cooked to your liking. My favorite is the 20oz bone in ribeye, but nothing there is below great.
Also comes with a salad bar, skillet potatoes, baked potatoes, beans and grill your own texas toast garlic bread.

I've heard from several different people that Wolfgang's is better

Denver has some awesome steak places. Brook's Steak house, maybe 30 minutes south of Denver, is my favorite. Downtown, I like Sullivan's or Elway's.
