Any steak enthusiasts traveling on California's Central Coast will want to try A.J. Spurs in Buelton (home of Sideways), Grover (Pismo) Beach, San Luis Obispo, Templeton or Marina. Or F. McLintock's in Arroyo Grande, Shell Beach (Pismo) or Paso Robles.

If you're in California's southern San Joaquin Valley, you'll definitely want to stop by Big Jer's for a simple, hearty meal of the best grilled Tri-Tip you've ever tasted, along with artichokes and freshly baked French bread, accompanied by a nice California Zinfandel or Cabernet and followed with coffee, dessert and cigars.

If you spend the night because you were too full and groggy to make it out to your car after dinner, you'll be treated to his specialty blackberry and sour cream /cream cheese crepes for breakfast.

And the price is very reasonable.

One that no one has mentioned yet in this thread is Lawry's. Love the place. Also I haven't been there but I also hear great things about Piccolo Pete's in Omaha, NE.

Peter Lugers in NYC
Prime 112 in Miami
Gene and Georgettis on Chicago
Fogo de Chao in Sao Paulo
Rio Alba in Buenos Aires

Among US chains, S&W and Capitol Grille are good choices. I'll pass on Morton's.

Smith and Wollenskys in NYC
Quality Meats in NYC (Amazing sides)
Keens Steakhouse in NYC (actually go for the famous mutton chop)
Preston's Steakhouse in Naples Florida.

I order my steak Black & Blue so Ruths Chris is not my favorite as the steak continues to cook on the plate.

Timely post: I will be in Orlando Florida in about a month and have been doing some research looking for a great steakhouse.
Any suggestions?

Boy, did you just bring back memories! My father would take us to Manero's for special occasions when I was younger. Loved that place. Can't forget the fried onions.

Stoney River Steakhouse - Great steaks and sides. Oh the bread rolls are to die for.

*******They allow a free bottle of wine per table to be brought in for dinner. Its great when you bring in a great Cab that would cost at least 100-150 there(due to restaurants markup) and you leave with no drinks on your tab********* Eek Eek

I have not had a chance to try many steak houses outside of the twin cities, but Manny's has always had a reputation as being one of the best in the nation. I do not have much to compare them too, but the steaks have always been amazing, and the decor is awesome.

1.) DelFriscos in Philly (Also across the US)
2.) Capital Grille in Philly (Also across the US)

I have never been to Peter Luger's in NY (YET)but heard it is UNREAL.

I have dined at MANY Steakhouses across the world. Ruth Chris, Smith and Wollensky, etc are just 2nd rate houses.

I love Lawrey's in LA, but I didn't mention it
because they serve prime rib and not steak. I go there at least a few times a
year for business dinners.

Wait, hold up, Prime Rib isn't steak? I thought the definition of steak is any slice of meat, and that Prime Rib was variety of Rib Eye ... I could be off there though.

At any rate, you're lucky to live close to the place, I haven't been in years.

I just got back from NYC and I can confirm that Wolfgangs on Park Ave. is excellent (the best I have ever had). It beats my experiences at Ben and jacks, Mortons, Shulas, Chasens and LV. In the LA area, I like the 555 in Long Beach and Flemings in Manhattan Beach
