Before a fine cigar, one of the greatest pleasures is to enjoy a fine steak with a glass of fine cabernet in an ambient filled restaurant. Just curious on favorite steakhouses of yours you have been to and your favorite local. I've traveled around and enjoyed many, here were and are my favorites:

1-Capital Grille, downtown Miami, FL
2-Morton's Steakhouse, downtown Cleveland, OH
and Favorite Local:
3-Savannah Chophouse & Grill, Laguna Niguel, CA

My favorite steakhouse has gotta be Ruth's Chris. Everytime I go there it's the same great quality and service. I'm also a big fan of its menu.

I usually go with the NY Strip medium rare w/extra butter. As far as sides go we usually get the creamed spinach, steak fries and onion rings.

Another solid steakhouse I enjoy is Dylan Prime in tribeca.

Can't go wrong with Ruth's Chris although I get the sweet potato xasserole.

In Palm springs I go to LG's.

I actually passed the Smoke Chophouse with my fiance and future father-in-law this weekend. He mentioned that it allowed cigars and we agreed we wanted to try it one day. Good to hear you think highly of it!

Great steaks and an incredible wine list.

I usually get their lollipop rib steak, or something like that. Bring cigars.

the best steak ive had in a restaurant was at Del Friscos in Vegas.

as far as local steakhouses, Jesse's Embers ranks very high on my list. im just having trouble deciding where ive had a great steak because i feel that i can make them just as well or even better at home.

Locally (vegas):

The Steakhouse at Circus Circus (LOL, YES, this place has one of the best steaks in Vegas, as locals have known for years... and at a great price)

Elsewhere:
Mastro's in Phoenix and LA (Bone-in anything)
Quality Meats in NYC (I'm also a fan of Bobby Van's roy, but I think Luger's is wayyy overrated... heresy, I know)

And, the singularly greatest steak I've ever eaten was in Athens, Greece. I have no idea the name of the establishment, but I was with one of my closest friends, a local. We pulled up to a house, was let in the door, and walked straight through the house into the backyard, where there were several rows of picnic benches set up next to an outdoor grill. Steak, fries, and bottled Coca-Cola... it was magnificent, and the steak itself was otherworldly.

Well I've been lucky to enjoy several great steaks in my life. I've eaten in Morton's in Virginia several times that were fantastic. I've had a great steak at the MGM in Vegas I believe it was called Chops. I've had a solid steak in several AC casinos. Most recently I ate probably the best dry rubbed steak I've ever had at Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick NJ.

these are just a few of the memorable steakhouses I have eaten in over the years...

in Montreal, it has got to ge the "Queue de Cheval" or "Rib'n Reef" (both with cigar lounges, BTW)

In Vegas, I'd go with "Del Frisco's"

In NYC, "Peter Luger's"

In Seattle, "The Metropolitan grill"

in Paris, "l'entre-côte" (not exactly your american style steak house though)

.

LONGHORN'S [frequently (at least three times monthly)]
1800 silver / wedge salad / ribeye / baked dry
bottle merlot (turning leaf / red diamond / blackstone)
[all total $45 before tip (20% is $9)]

SHULA'S [infrequently - with out of town visitors]
if you eat the 64 ounce steak you eat free !

MORTON'S [not yet]
just openned in downtown FT L

MANERO'S - GREENWICH CT [sentimental vote - the gold standard i would use to measure a steak house today]
used to eat there every FRI PM during the 80's- chateaubriand / gorgonzola salad / scotch / CIGAR FRIENDLY !!!

BBQ at home [on occasionally]
there is just something about actually getting a real butcher to cut you a specific portion and then hearing the sizzle and smelling the aroma and then not having to pay the mark-up on the wine - the downside is having to screw with the BBQ grill and the clean-up

anyway now i'm hungry

Rathbun Steak in Atlanta - There is not even a close second place. Absolutely amazing steaks (from Allen brother's in Chicago). The sides and apps are incredible - especially the Ribeye carpaccio. Prices aren't too bad (better than capital grille)

Best thing about Rathbun Steak? On the desert menu is an assortment of fine bourbons and scotches, and oh yes, cigars. They escort you out to a heated after-dinner cigar area. Awesome.

Aside from my favorite steakhouses (listed earlier in this post), the following are my most disappointing, overrated steakhouses:

1. Bob's (Dallas, SF)
2. Ringside (Portland)
3. Greystone (San Diego)
4. El Gaucho (Portland, Seattle)
